And Appalachian State, pray that it's not FAU. They might smoke you.
FAU typically plays much better at the end of the season.

Finally, my last point on this. I think most Conference USA people get this I'm not sure if the Sunbelt people do yet.
ESPN controls all of this. Nothing is set in stone. ESPN could say "Appalachian State we want you in the Independence Bowl with a P5"... you're going to do it.

The CUSA champion gets to pick it's bowl from our lineup. UAB chose to play Northern Illinois in Boca Raton.

If we really wanted to kill them we would send Marshall. They beat us. FAU I think wants a shot at Independence Bowl.

I think all bets are off this year with no Boca Bowl.
I can tell you for a fact, that in 2014 when Marshall won the championship, we were presented two options. ESPN whittles it down for you and you go from there.
if FAU wins the championship, and ESPN says "we want FAU in the Birmingham or Independence Bowl which one are you going to choose?" That's what it will be. If they will not offer the matchup with Appalachian State in the New Orleans Bowl we're not going to have it. ESPN could say we would rather have Marshall there.
I'm not saying that's what will happen or what I want to happen, but I'm just telling you it's usually how it goes down
This is the type of horse trading that goes on.

The Independence Bowl is not owned by ESPN, so the bowl committee will make it’s own decision. Really dont think they are swayed any by ESPN.
They’re the only tie-in CUSA (besides NO bowl) that is not owned by ESPN.

The champ gets input but doesn't automatically get any bowl. The league and ESPN get input as well. Marshall wanted Heart of Dallas a few years ago and the league wouldn't give it to them.

Not true at all. Supposed to be, but in reality they tell you where you're going and you bend over and take it.

I can't understand why ESPN wouldn't have wanted a matchup between two champions, both with 10 wins, and one of which was in the top 25. It doesn't make any sense. The matchups they came up with weren't interesting at all.

Boca Raton Bowl is, supposedly, C-USA's flagship bowl. I bet CCG winner will play in Boca Raton this bowl season.

If App ends up in NOLA, I now really hope the game is with FAU or Marshall. I think App's only loss against C-USA has come to Southern Miss in 2014, and that was a 21-20 game with a true freshman QB in the first year in FBS.
The latest game was obviously 56-41 against Charlotte with two new coaching staffs. Then you have the 31-3 game against an Old Dominion team that finished 9-3.
Bring on whoever you have.

Is that something FAU would want? Or would FAU rather play elsewhere? I know Marshall will play in Florida at all costs. You could almost relocate their campus there just to recruit for football.

It is my understanding that FAU may not have the choice. In that case, I hope we get an AAC (or ACC) team.

Lets be honest APP ST has not played any of the top programs in CUSA...
OUD,UNCC, and a 3-9 USM team
2014, 2015, 2016 APP ST would not have stayed with in 10 points of the top 2 teams and with in 14-21 points of the top 4 in 2015. 2017 FAU would have ran APP ST off the field about as bad as the 2015 and 2016 Western teams...offense on those 3 teams were just too good
I personally dont think App St wins vs Marshall, FAU or Western this year. Maybe we will see one of them vs AppST

That’s a little vague, isn’t it?
How so?
I do not want to pay anyone $25 to be executed.

Please.....anything is possible, but Charlotte gave App all they wanted in Boone. That last app td was off an onside kick. We beat the mess out of Marshall. Dont think they'd beat App.....and I despise App.

None of that relates to a App St vs Marshall game. If it did then Western would have beat the socks off of Marshall since Western beat UNCC limiting them to their 2nd lowest scoring game of the season. Marshall is a different team on the road vs @home...or in a bowl

The CUSA champion gets to pick it's bowl from our lineup. UAB chose to play Northern Illinois in Boca Raton.
You're Conference picks your bowl game and they try to get as many teams in bowls as possible. If you pick and accept your bowl without their permission. You will be fined.
That's like saying that fans pick what bowl they want their team to go to. UAB fans want UAB to play in New Orleans or Birmingham. It would be easier for UAB to play at the Birmingham Bowl for recruiting.
