“The NCAA told the UofM that they made an error, but that they wouldn't go back on it. Six months later, they did exactly that.“

Well then...

Very good explanation...

They screwed up by ruling him eligible...

Admitted they screwed up by pledged to honor their initial decision...

Then turned around and broke their promise at a point when Wiseman cannot change course.

I am not normally a conspiracy theorist....

But this sure feels very targeted and timed exactly to a point when nothing else could be done.

No opportunity to pay the money back or anything.

The NCAA is a non profit organization dedicated to preserving the interests of student atheletes, do you think they will get the benefit of the doubt in court?

This is all about trying to damage the brand. It has already caused Jalen Green to push back his announcement.

Arbitrary interpretation of "rules" will be picked apart, masticated and devoured by the attorneys. Get em!

I am beginning to think Wiseman will never be eligible, but I am also beginning to think he is going to get a big payday from the NCAA.

RE: 247 Breaks down James Wiseman's lawsuit against the NCAA
Another point made was that the NCAA does not define the term "indefinite." (When taking about the length of time one remains a booster) The common definition is 'a term not defined' as described in the court filing. The Court document notes that if the NCAA meant "in perpetuity" they clearly could have used that language. They did not. Therefore the NCAA does not give adequate notice of the length of time one remains a booster after making a donation. 4 years? 6 years? 14 years? Its not clear. There's a lack of adequate notice which the NCAA has an obligation to provide --- especially before they take any punitive action.

The agreement is a contract. Ambiguities within a contract are construed against the maker of the contract. The party who drew the contract up. Here the NCAA.

A lot of NCAA bylaws are intentionally ambiguous so they can pick and choose when and to whom to enforce it against. Somebody is finally standing up to this crap

Mark Emmert is drawing a pretty nice salary these days:

He’s held positions at a number of universities with. Their share of scandals:

Sam is the man.

NCAA knows this already. Blue bloods are scared so they're pulling a political stunt to appease them. Meanwhile, Sean Miller and the likes are still laying $10K per month to players with no sanctions in sight....

Problem is you cant do that an expect to get away with it in court. *Ambiguous language in a contract is always construed against the drawer of that written agreement.* That is, if there are two or more ways to read ambiguous language it is read in a way that most favors the innocent party. This is a NCAA document -- they drew it.
