SMU is proving me right. Their first game against a decent opponent and they're about to lose.
You are nuts ! SMU is a top 25 team. they played Memphis without their 1st or 2nd round NFL WR
They beat TCU who crushed UT ! TCU has potential to be 6-2 . Lost 2 close games .
Never compare SMU to a MAC team. They can beat you on the ground or air
No one compared SMU to any of the MAC teams. It was simply stated that SMU being undefeated was a product of their weak schedule. They played the best team on their schedule, Memphis, and lost. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose to Navy too. They are lucky they miss out on having to play UCF and Cincinnati.
NIU fans have to be careful when calling out teams for having an over inflated record due to SOS. SMU’s is 53/130. NIUs was 122/124 and 122/125 in ‘12-‘13. Kinda like App State. They’re pulling an NIU...they SOS over this 18-3 run is roughly 107/130. It obviously comes with the conference, but it will be there when ranking talks come up.
I'm curious how playing two SBC, one CUSA, and one Big 12 team in non-conference with only one ranked opponent gets them the 53rd best schedule.
Half of SMU's wins have been by one score -- beating Tulsa by 6, Houston by 3, TCU by 3, and Arkansas St. by 7.
When NIU had its run in 2012-2013 we were blowing out a lot of our competition.
Because you blew out a bunch of really bad teams and didn't play as many good teams as SMU has.

Who are all these "good" teams SMU has played? Their non-conference was easy and they miss out on playing Cincy and UCF.

UCF was once ranked #15

Clearly a step up in competition
ACC is having it's best year and the MAC is having one of its worst.
SMU has a cupcake schedule. They played 3 G5s and an average TCU team in non-conference. They avoid both UCF and Cincinnati. Memphis and Navy will be their only true tests.
I think they have some good teams but I don't think any of them are great teams or will win a NY6 bowl.
That is what they said about UCF who beat Auburn.

Has nothing to do with us, although we're definitely one of the better teams. Even if we're middle of the pack in the AAC, I think that illustrates how good the conference is.
You know damn well they play a tougher conference schedule than you do, because the AAC is a much better conference.

A MAC board really isn't a place for a Temple fan to preach conference strength because, well, you know...

Temple had their opportunity to flex their muscles and conference strength a few years back in the Boca Raton Bowl against Toledo and the MAC...
Yeah, we all know how that went !!

I don’t care about Temple and the AAC, but like so many on this board, I have a man crush and woody for the Rod. I just signed up to be one of his groupies. Now I can walk around in titters like the rest of you Rod lovers. Do you ever have groupie meetings where you can exchange pictures and swoon over the Rodster?

From a financial standpoint, absolutely !!
From an exposure upgrade and being off the November midweek MACtion games, without a doubt !!

If it meant having to lose to all of our non conference MAC opponents, or becoming ranked only to lose in a bowl game from a MAC non division winner... NO

It would mean not having to take all of the money out of student fees, because your school is broke.

Go away. And Temple's most famous alum is Bill Cosby. A rapist who is in prison.

It would mean thousands of miles of travel compared to 10s or hundreds we have now. I wouldn't mind being in the AAC, but Temple made a deal with the devil that they don't get to win the AAC and still lose to MAC teams. THAT is the deal I do not want.

Here's an idea ... why don't you Temple and Toledo guys go play somewhere else? That way you can debate each other all you want, and no one who doesn't give a rat's petootie will have to read all that (expl. deleted). Don't you have your own sandbo, uh, boards? There's csnbbs _ Toledo, for example.
