The Dems would probably win the presidency in this situation. And then use Trump's assassination as the justification to drop the hammer on the 2nd Amendment. All they need is someone on the left to be willing to be the sacrificial lamb and take one for the team. It wouldn't be hard to build the perfect alt-right backstory legend and then find and train one leftist whackjob to be the fall guy.

They'd have their perfect "example" of the hateful alt-right to justify sending the FBI after any Right Wing activists groups they dont like.
They'll take Trump out of the equation.
They'll win the Presidency
They'll have the justification to attack the 2nd with all their force.

There's no way I'm the first person to think of this. Someone on the left has already calculated this out, the question is would they do it.

Most people act like independent = centrist even though it doesn't. I know a few people who self identify as communists who are registered independent.
