Exclamation Pretty good TV viewership for SBC
Not sure if this was discussed yet, but last week's App State vs. Louisiana game brought in 0.54 million viewers.

That was the second-highest viewership for a G5 game, and even had more viewers than an SEC game. Here were the other games during the same week that for comparison:

Hawaii/Boise State (ESPN2) - 0.56 million
App State/Louisiana (ESPN2) - 0.54 million
Ole Miss/Missouri (ESPN2) - 0.50 million
Cincinnati/Houston (ESPN2) - 0.26 million
Memphis/Temple (ESPN2) - 0.23 million

That's impressive, and just goes to show you that the one weekday game each of our schools play on national TV are worth it. I'm curious to see the viewership of the Troy/USA game when those results come out.

Would've been interesting to see how viewership would've been for ULM and App. ULM got some recognition for their game against Florida State. May have been some national intrigue there.

Really surprised about the AAC numbers being so low. Better keep this around for when Week Night MacTion begins for comparison.

If a market is huge, but they don't really care about you, is it really a huge market?

Speaking of MACtion, I'm so glad the SBC doesn't have so many of those games in midweek. The MAC has every conference game for a month midweek. That would be awful for our fans and alumni.

Is half a million viewers on a week night a big deal?

I’d would rather play on Saturday when the donors who support the program can attend

I guess it depends on if you like the idea of App State having half a million sets of eyeballs across the country watching their football product or not.

This App fan does. National respect is important in building a brand.

I think it's all about moderation. The MAC overdoes it with every single November conference game on weeknights. But having one or at worst two games a year per team on weeknights is good for exposure, while having the remaining ten games a year on Saturdays when attendance can be maximized.

And we are talking about one home game and one away game.

I don’t mind the Thursday games, but other mid-week dates I dislike.

Totally agree on this. 1 home, 1 away.

I wish ESPN had picked up ULM/App.

Looking like it's going to rain. One could hope the system stays south and Boone only gets outer bands (if it's that organized). Last year, in App's only game being ranked, it rained in Statesboro. Seems this may play into App's hands considering the run defense is much more stringy than the pass defense.

Rain will put a damper on that massive ULM passing game, I think

If we just give the ball to Josh Johnson on most of our plays, and throw in some QB runs and passes to our tight ends, I think that could be successful.

Would make it more difficult, for sure. ULM also struggles against the run. App gives up 4.23 yards per carry, with that falling to somewhere around 3 YPC outside of 6 long runs. ULM is giving up 5.72 yards per carry.

I'd expect a run heavy game plan from App regardless of how the weather turns out. That kind of margin from two teams who like to be balanced should be a KPI in favor of App here.

Latest update from Jeff (our local weather guy):

Looks like rain starting in the second. Light rain though, no downpours/thunder
