One Small Step for a Man
...a giant leap for mankind.
Ok, very much an exaggeration...
so I went to the Yellow Springs Street Fair today. Wait, I skipped the fair and went straight to the Gulch. The Gulch has three tvs. One had WVU. The otherAlabama. The third Michigan State.
I politely asked the bartender to show UC. Then again. After much back and forth, UC comes on, then I see old couple at bar flipping thru stations, so I go up and ask for UC again and this customer wench yells at me.
Apparently, Michigan State is just that important.
To which I responded, this is OHIO.
The couple next to us was from Cincy and wanted to seeUC. The woman next to me attended UC. I had her go to the bar and ask for the UCgame. Another woman saw my UC hoody, and and ytold me granddaughter goes to Uc. I had her ask for the UC game. The man sitting next to the wench told me his daughter goes to UC, and called the wench Cruella De Ville
Cruella continued to give dirty looks. Her hubby turned around and was wearing an OSU logo. It all made sense - the attitude, the sense of entitlement.
The harrassment of bartenders won out. UC played on the tv in Yellow Springs. It’s the way it should be.
We should all fight the good fight.

RE: One Small Step for a Man
I go to a certain bar in NKY occasionally to watch UC football/basketball. The last time, UK happened to be starting their game with 10 minutes left in the UC game. This bar has probably 10 screens and 9 that day had the UK game on. You would have thought the bar had just run out of NATTI light by the way they were complaining about 1 screen out of 10 not on the UK game. I won't go back there if UK is playing.

I confessI had alcohol in me and didn’t give a sh!t!
I shouldn’t have to fight to get a top 25 Ohio team on tv here.

You should have told Cruella...
"Just close your eyes and picture a cave man offense that has no passing game, a defense getting their faces ran over and Dantonio standing there looking like somebody just shoved a corn cob up his ass.
THERE, you've just watched the entire Michigan State game."

I am a little surprised that anyone would come to Yellow Springs and then go to the Gulch. (Unless you want an altercation late at night.) Several much better places to watch a game, with far more accommodating staff. I do understand as the Gulch might be the only place with open tables.
But you are right, there is a lot of O$U attitude in the communities around YS. And Street Fair crowds are mostly visitors. Most YS residents don't care a lot either way. It's a laid back place.

+1, exactly. Yellow Springs is basically all the hippies who got kicked out of Dayton and Springfield back in the day.

Outstanding Even if I was an OSU fan, the last game I would want to see, is one involving the team they had demolished a week earlier. Cuella did not make sense on any level...

I dig the Gulch. But this really isn’t about the Gulch. It’s about heading into a place showing multiple games and fighting to get a ranked local team on tv.
