UH QB D'Eriq King to sit out rest of season, redshirt

If we had suffered a rash of injuries that would be one thing, but simply quitting on the season before Oct.? Screw that.
For the millionth time its not quitting its a strategy to help rebuild the damage applewhite caused, and if you care more about your season ticket this year then having a good football program that’s on you.

Saving this for when we finish with 2-3 wins in conference.

Yeah, I care about my season tickets. I also care about our seniors who won't be back next year having their last year of football flushed down the drain. If you're cool with that, fine. I'm not.

I am because you know what its part of the sport of college football. If the seniors don’t like it too damn bad welcome to real life! NO PLAYER is bigger than the program. If you weren’t so selfish an actually cared what was best for the program and not what you want you would be ok with it too.
You would rather lose all our good players in a 6 win season and have an even worse year next year vs redshirting them to have a legit shot at the ny6. All because you care more about the money of this years tickets and what some players you have never met might be feeling.
Just FYI I spent $800 on my season tickets so i am invested in this as well!

Strategy is on to better UH future seasons and if you disapprove than perhaps you're tanking the program. Not cool

I would rather we had manned up and at least tried to compete for the conference title, instead of simply shrugging our collective shoulders and saying "maybe next year".

We currently have our highest point total of the season with half the forth quarter still to play. Maybe Dana Knows what he’s doing.

Possibly controversial hot take: We benched King for Tune after he played like ass and as a way to save face the we're just saying hes red shirting that way he can transfer out at the end of the year with his dignity in tack.
Probably not what actually happened but ya never know.

I was pleasantly surprised with Tune's performance seeing as his last game was the Army bowl game disaster.
His throwing touched actually looked better than King's considering they weren't going to let him throw much tonight. His 2 pt conversion toss was money, if Carr wasn't such a beast in the red zone tonight, maybe Tune would have gotten to throw a corner fade for TD.
Cautiously optimistic, but we need to get some of our guys conditioned up so they can go a whole game without cramping up.

I know how I would feel, but more to the point, I would immediately go and demand I be red-shirted as well. The way Dana should have played this is ALL seniors red-shirt.
But that would have caused a big problem in recruiting (very little room for freshmen recruits).

If you're a senior with no draft potential, just say thank you for getting to go to school for free and focus on your degree and quit complaining about the wins/losses.

It would be funny if Tune turns out to get better results than King. But that sure as hell isn't how it was promoted, so you can't have it both ways, lol. If Tune turns out to be good, then what does Dana do next year, lol? King would be gone in a heartbeat. And you would never really know if it was a good move, or not.

This is exactly what I was thinking too
King was given every opportunity to learn the playbook but for whatever reason he failed to grasp what the head coach instructed him to do.
If Tune carries Houston to 6 - 8 victories King is definitely not coming back so King transferring will not be a painful blow as we thought it would be.

Hahaha... I will definitely not bet against Houston... Houston's offense will be clicking on most cylinders when Memphis faces us.
