9. North Texas El Paso State-San Antonio

There's a Texas-sized wad of four mid-major teams in the Lone Star State that is becoming more and more indistinguishable. The good news is that many of them go head-to-head over the coming weeks, and that should sort this out. The better news is that they are all currently better than Rice. Unless you are Rice. Then that's not better news at all.

Also, football notwithstanding, we have already beat Texas State in volleyball. So we are “currently” 1-0.

Red dirt music is mostly an Oklahoma and north and west Texas thing.

Rice has a lot more swamp and bayou than red dirt.
Plus Gilley’s, which is more oil refinery music than red dirt music.

The women in Texas, including even San Antonio and Denton, are hotter than anyplace in the East, and the beer is colder too.

The UNT/UTSA rivalry is so irrelevant no one wants to televise it.

Might we recommend the Alamodome for your trip? It’s indoors and climate controlled.

First, North Texas isn't related to either UTEP or UTSA. We are not a Longhorn spinoff. And, North Texas is not a small/exclusive private university like Rice either. North Texas is very large public university system, with more than 39,000 students enrolled at our main campus. Second, UNT has not lost to another C-USA Texas program since 2016. And third, North Texas is a Tier 1 (highest research activity) university, according to Carnegie Mellon rankings. While Rice is certainly in a class of their own among all C-USA universities, UTEP or UTSA probably still have a way to go to reach the tier 1 status.

Also, I think the title of your post could use a few commas.
