Games there are pretty fun actually. Not the greatest sight lines, but a good time. If you're worried about it being too cold, make sure to drink tons of the boozy hot chocolate they offer (there were two options for it last time I was there...not sure if I remember trying both of them or not).

Random note: Nick O'Malley (the writer of that very brief confirmation of the bowl) is a fairly recent UMass alum - graduated in the early 2010s. Has a fun series with Mass Live where he tries some of the stranger food options out there "so you don't have to."

Guessing we'll see a lot of Temple/Navy/Cincinnati vs. BC/Syracuse/Pitt type games in this one. Doubt we'd see the southern schools being up for this one.

RE: Fenway Park to host ACC vs. AAC bowl game
Interesting thought: if the powers-that-be knew of UConn's departure of the AAC in advance, does this bowl game (or, at least, its tie-ins) still get scheduled? The AAC is a weird partner now for this bowl game, since UConn is no longer in the league. Temple is really its only NE-based school (which doesn't have any ties to the ACC), and Cincinnati is really the only other one that would presumably fit. I can't imagine many other southern schools traveling well enough for a December Bowl game in Boston.

Gonna be weird when you have to stick an SMU vs. Georgia Tech game in Boston because your NE schools didn't qualify.

IIRC, wasn't it announced as a possibility, but then there was some later reports they were going to back off?

RE: Fenway Park to host ACC vs. AAC bowl game
Unless this is intended as BC’s version of Navy’s Hometown Military Bowl, this would be so much better if it was scheduled as a Week Zero neutral site game, assuming you could workout the scheduling issues with the Red Sox. I think a lot people would find the potential for a late summer vacation in Massachusetts or nearby Maine culminating in their team playing in a season opening college football game in a classic venue would be much more palatable than watching two teams who have already had average at best seasons play in potentially frigid conditions shorty before or after Christmas. If you do it Week Zero then you might get ratings as good as you would for those who would just have it on at their homes during holiday parties etc. Plus, if you plan it as AAC-ACC in advance you can make sure that no ACC team who already has to play at BC that year has to make a second trip to Beantown that season which would would probably otherwise depress ticket sales.

It's hard to imagine that this game would exist if the Pinstripe Bowl didn't exist. This bowl is a case of Yankee-envy, of the Sox wanting to have something the Yankees have.

That said, maybe it will turn out fine. We'll see.

It will suck...just saying. Not a fan of it. Rather play in Myrtle Beach (Conway) or Norfolk, VA (ODU)

I would go to a Bowl game in Boston... However the best chance I have of going is if Wyoming gets an At large (Wifes alma mater) since the new Coaching staff iat Tech is looking more like Bill Lewis's staff and less like George Oleary staff..

This just in: Georgia Tech has signed an agreement to be the ACC's rep to the Fenway Bowl whenever eligible. 04-cheers

This bowl has terrible idea written all over it. They will be doing good if they get 18,000 to show up and freeze their tails off for this demonstration of mediocre football.

Instead of getting into the bowl business these northern cities need to be putting on early season neutral site games. I’m thinking along the lines of a Lambert Kick off Classic at MetLife Stadium.

Chicago, Boston, DC, Cleveland, etc could host similar neutral site events featuring at least one regional team.

This...however, baseball teams are awful protective of their grass in season.
