Temple is really its only NE-based school (which doesn't have any ties to the ACC), and Cincinnati is really the only other one that would presumably fit. I can't imagine many other southern schools traveling well enough for a December Bowl game in Boston.
UConn is so bad at football, I doubt anyone projected them to be eligible in the next 10 years.
This bowl is easily explained as ESPN taking care of its own and getting the AAC another P5 bowl. They have the American on contract for the next 12 years. Get ready to watch ESPN pump them up for the next 3-4 to pay ratings dividends in the following years.

Instead of getting into the bowl business these northern cities need to be putting on early season neutral site games. I’m thinking along the lines of a Lambert Kick off Classic at MetLife Stadium.
Chicago, Boston, DC, Cleveland, etc could host similar neutral site events featuring at least one regional team.
This...however, baseball teams are awful protective of their grass in season.
Host it in Foxboro

There's nothing to do in/around Foxborough outside of going to a football game. It's a town with no shorelines that's an hour from Boston and 30 minutes from the not as exciting but I guess still a city Providence.

BC says hello.
Wait, BC moved from the the ACC to the American? I would have thought that would be bigger news on this board.
Unless you read "The AAC is a weird partner" as "The ACC is a weird partner" ... where with BC, Syracuse, Pitt, and with Georgia Tech likely to be willing to head up to the general vicinity of Harvard and MIT, the ACC is by far the most natural of partners for this bowl.
I wonder if the MAC is going to be looking at taking a back-up spot in this bowl ... I can't imagine the Sunbelt, CUSA or MWC being interested in doing that.

You guys are looking at this all wrong. The Fenway Bowl will do just fine if it lands on the right date... I'm thinking late May or early June, perhaps the week before Final Exams.

If somebody wants to go to Fenway, they should just go to a Red Sox game. There are 81 of them each year to choose from.
If your team makes a bowl game, it should be played in a football stadium in a warm weather city.
