We were there at some track and field events at the 96 Olympics. Fond memories of that awesome experience!
Lower bowl only is 25k. There are 17k or 18k seats in 400 level upstairs.

Sounds better. Wiki says 25K capacity, expandable... But if you already can seat 35K for big games that's a pretty good selling point.

The team looked to be still hung over from the UT win. GSU got punched in the mouth early.

That is pretty neat, and stadium looks pretty awesome already, however I'd like to see them build a second level on the "new" side before opening up that 400 level. Really give the stadium more of a closed in feel (better atmosphere), however GSU has done a damn good job with what they have. I've been saying it all summer that GSU should be right up there near the top of our expansion candidates after BYU. I think UAB may get the nod over GSU due to history/conference affiliation with current AAC members, but then again being at Tuscaloosa's mercy doesn't help UAB at all. Plus the brand "Georgia State" sounds like a landgrant/flagship/big time P6 as compared to Alabama-Birmingham or even UAB. ODU is amother name thrown around that may have some upside I just thinking they're too close to ECU, the Tidewater being an area that ECU recruits heavily. UAB or GSU really fill in the footprint gap in the middle of the conference.

Was easily the best Gameday experience beginning and tailgating all through the game to fireworks afterwards. I for once have no complaints for GSU Athletics.

- BYU would probably be the first option, I'm personalty not that impressed anymore (I know, National following,National title...)
- I rather look forward, In order of personal preference:
1. Georgia State - Massive enrollment, Great market
2. FIU - Massive enrollment, Great market (Far enough from Orlando, Florida is big enough for 3 teams)
3. North Texas -Great enrollment, Great market
4. Buffalo/Rice - Academics!!!! + Sports? (Neither can be ignored)

As a football fan and not just a GSU fan, I can see of no conceivable reason BYU would come to the AAC. And that's not an AAC knock. If BYU were not doing fine outside a conference they would not be outside a conference. Outside of a P5 with $30M a year making them an offer they cannot refuse, they will stay independent.

If Tennessee wasn't a complete dumpster fire right now, BYU would be 0-2. BYU at USF coming up is gonna be ug-ly!!!

It's kind of been beaten to death on this forum, but my understanding is that BYUs season is essentially 'over' after a loss or two. No CC to fight for... and no access bowl slot. That alone seems reason enough to join. I admit they seem to have no problem scheduling, which is another common knock on independence.
From what I gather, now that we got our huge raise from ESPN, it's just pride keeping them from the AAC... since Utah got a 'golden ticket'. there is no other reaming reason. They want eastern exposure, and we are in major eastern cities.
Personally, I could care less about BYU. We are doing exceptional without them. They would have really helped us a few years ago, and clearly have some benefit to the AAC any time... but are hardly a critical 'get' for us...

Many of BYU fans feel that they would have to be undefeated for the season to mean something (One of their fan blog sites).
Same site states that BYU will not lose money by being in the AAC, won't make more but wont lose money... Just that the money will come from other revenue sources.
Not interested in them... The AAC is not a charity case... "F" EM.

Your raise at least the net is what they already make. Until the fans raise and uproar about them not being in a conference then nothing changes. And their fans are not waiting longingly to play an AAC conference schedule. Again, just reality. And remember, BYU very likely has an open invite. And now there is actually a spot and yet *crickets*.
It's not happening.

Oh I agree completely that it's not happening.
I just disagree that there are no reasons why they should join. There are a ton of reasons... and everyone outside of the BYU campus knows what they are... As I say they just put pride above dollars, conference championships, conference rivalries, and most importantly post season access. So be it.

1. Georgia State - Massive enrollment, Great market
2. FIU - Massive enrollment, Great market (Far enough from Orlando, Florida is big enough)

So be it.
The only reasons that matter are inside BYUs's campus. People outside forget that and take all of this way too seriously.
