Are we sold on Ridder for the next 3 years? I think Bryant and Prater should be looked at next year.

No O line = No time.
Bryant and Prater wouldn't do any better.

We can compete, but it’s going to be tough to go on the road against certain teams. Right now our biggest weakness is our OL. OSU’s biggest strength is DL. That makes the talent look even further apart in some areas IMO.

It’s not going to happen overnight. Have to give it time and just build on the foundation. Eventually we will be able to compete, but it will take more gilding and eventually the pieces will align (like they did for UCF, Boise, etc...).

This isn’t just a top team. If they keep playing like they have, they will be in the championship game IMO.

OSU most likey isn't a championship game type team. I suspect their DBs aren't up to snuff, and Fields isn't ready.

They do look to be clear favorites in the B10.

Our OL is absolutely an issue in this game. They're playing a line that's prolly top 3.

mc

Fields will play up because of the offense he is in. Day is a great coach and will Taylor the offense to him.

They are dominant in the trenches, especially DL. They should make the CFP and depending on their matchup are easily in the conversation for one of a few teams that could make the championship game.

People are underestimating them if they don’t believe that.

In the conversation? Yes. Absolutely. No one is doubting that. They're the #5 team in the nation. Goes without saying.

That said, I think they're easily a level below Clemson, Bama, and (likely) UGA. Depending on seeding they have a chance. Buuuut, idk that they beat any of those teams.

Sooners are gonna be tough too

mc

Na this is Ohio States best team since ‘14 by a long shot. If Fields keeps improving throughout the year they will be a legit contender to win it all. They are elite at literally every position except maybe linebacker spots.

Right now I’d go Clemson/Ohio State/Oklahoma (we’ll find out about Texas tonight)/ and one of LSU/Georgia/Bama in that order.

I could see fields blowing a game this year though.

With that said UC is too banged up all over the place and too young on both their lines (exposes everyone else on the field) to compete right now with those top 7ish teams. We need to get healthy quick! Experience will come on the O-line and D-line throughout the year. I am still expecting 8-10 wins this regular season. Hopefully the latter.

Yep.
We suck worse than FAU.

not exactly it’s just that playing at OSU is like playing an NFL team. It’s not even close on talent.

I try to be honest about UC football and this team probably wins 7 to 9 regular season games. Runs the table at Nippert and gets a few more on the road. The offense isn’t good enough to feel good about any road games.

No, I don't think anyone should be sold on him with the QB talent he'll have backing him up. There wasn't a whole lot Ridder could do today playing behind an overwhelmed offensive line, but I also don't think he's done enough in his 15 games or so to be untouchable. He's good, but he's not Heisman good.

Bad day today for sure. Last pick definitely on him. They need to open up the offense and let him pass or fail. The play calls are so protective you really don't know what you have with him yet.

Not disagreeing but Ridder isn't the answer either. If he's the QB the next 2 years we still aren't accomplishing much. He's definitely not a bad player but he's not a game changer.

Ridder was the right guy for the 2018 Bearcats but I am not sold on him as the guy that take them to that elite level.

This was a terrible offensive matchup for us, and unfortunately the losses on defense have really hurt us against a team with weapons all over the place. I genuinely think Bush and Wiggins wouldve made an incredible difference in our coverage schemes.

Offensively, we're a run first team...and our OL can't do a thing against their DL. When they dont have to worry about sending any additional players to support rush defends, they can just sit back with 7 in coverage and our receivers can't do a thing to beat that. Absolute worst case...and now Forrest is down...

Yea. I like him, and he brings some good qualities but his accuracy is an issue, and he continues to miss reads. Still locks into one reciever every play.

I don't think that was ever the game plan to open things up. The game plan today was show up, play for 60 minutes, collect a check, and take the bus back down 71.

Left the game. Quite possibly the worst Cincinnati sports performance I have seen in person. Men against boys. The chasm between programs will continue to widen until UC is relegated to a different division. There are about 10 programs in D1 that are so much higher than everyone else it’s making true game unwatchable.

Exactly right. “Hand off, hand off, dump off” isn’t an offense. Ridder has nothing to do with this loss. We lack the overall talent and we took zero chances.

Spot on. I would have loved to have Wiggins, Bush, and Chuck (RB) for this game. Hudson at LT would have been huge too. Unless they are panned our 5 stars you can’t expect two freshmen and a sophomore to handle OSU’s D-line with potentially the number 1 pick at DE. Chase Young is better and seems to be more of a leader (Captain) than both Bosa brothers.

We are a pretty young team..keep improving and get more experienced through the year and we’ll be fine!

I get it, he hasn't had a whole lot to work with but I am also basing some of this on what I saw last week too. He still has missed some opportunities today that he has had, which have been few and far between.

I am not sure what everyone was expecting today. I was generally scared of today’s game for many reasons which all have played out on the field. The next four games could go south if the offense can’t score.
