Not sure if this is by design, but the speakers hanging under the second floor level only work for the referees. Ankerson still unintelligible and barely audible. Hope they plan to have him coming over the speakers. They are going to have to add some portable concession wagons on west side.

Went to the game tonight west side section 216. Had no problems with the sound system, thought it sounded great. Problem with the DJ's microphone, it kept cutting out. Overall a very nice gameday atmosphere. Crowd was kinda quiet at times, but honestly I thought that people were in shock at how close NSU played us. The stadium feels and looks like a big time college football atmosphere. Can't wait to get back for the ECU game. Everybody associated with the build and operation of the facility should feel extremely proud.

NEW stadium construction
Loved the stadium overall but a few beefs from me ....

The amount of consessions and bathrooms was oversold or there was a higher proportion of usage compared to the average. Every consessions line was at least 17 deep on the east side, this included concourse vendors.

Got in the stadium at 635 and there was a line of 8 in the men's room. I was looking for a porta potty.

The sound was great on the east side except for the mike crapping out on the dj, the djs Mike being slightly too loud, and not being able to hear the ref.

Scoreboard was great .... Except for the real life commercials that were played in the middle of the game. Maybe too much like home? They haven't yet figured out how to show clips from other games or even scores from the other games.

Pregame was way over sold. Mentions to rivaling enter sandman ? Pretty much same pregame as we're accustomed to.

Couldn't hear ODUs band when they were in the stands. I'm on East side upper deck 50 yard line.

Missed the cannon.

Water is even more expensive this year @ $5.

Pretty minor gripes overall. I think most disappointing was the overhype by Harry on the pregame show and abundance of bathrooms and consessions. I love Harry don't get me wrong.

Chairbacks were nice, view was great, day was beautiful .... Overall great time.

Im almost positive he thought the plan was to do the light show pregame. Ballard even mentioned he thought it was before the game.

I thought the bathrooms would be an issue for the guys.
I'm glad the women don't have to wait, but I think the pendulum has swung a little too far

The speakers in W111 under the second deck only worked when the refs would speak. Probably an easy fix.

RE: NEW stadium construction
Speakers sucked at the top of 210. No delay. Everything was an echo-y mess and not that loud. Guess the sound goes over our heads or isn’t pointing to the sides. I also have an obstructed view, I guess it happens, but would have been nice to know before paying a premium for the seats. I definitely would have chosen differently if I thought these would be issues. That said, I moved lower and toward the middle to sit with a friend and it was much better. So it’s probably only an issue for a handful of rows at the top on the sides.

They did it pregame too. It just didn’t present well because it was too light out still. It would work better in The Ted.

Exactly...I love that but the effect was missing because it was too light outside. I believe the Team introduction needs to be revamped and they have a month to rework it.

I said this at the tailgate, too. "A light show? At 630? In August?"

That makes a lot of sense but also makes it less impactful during the day. That light show ar 2nd half was really awesome.

Im guessing that why they decided to move it. Makes sense.

Harry would have been better off just saying come early. I keep waiting for it.

Its like people hyping up a movie. The movie could still be ok but you leave disappointed

The ODU band didn't share any love. NSU's band was rocking all night. ODU was.... holding their tubas above their heads? That's not how that works.

Staid. Best word I can think of to describe ODU's band.Definitely not something young students can relate to and definitely not a crowd energizer.

You cant compare our band to a MEAC band. People go to MEAC games just to watch the band.

RE: NEW stadium construction
Disappointed in the Football teams performance. Played a very good 1st quarter, however NSU out played us in general 3 quarters.

Disappointments from a real game scenario in regards to the NEW STADIUM.

Let me start off with.....I LOVE OUR NEW STADIUM, but there are many things that surprised me. I hate to complain but I am going to address this as things that should be improved, as we move forward. Especially in regards to what we had been SOLD, or should I say TOLD how GREAT they would be...…?.

1). Concessions VERY LONG LINES for concessions. Either not able to handle the crowds or they may have been understaffed, or maybe there are NOT enough.

2). Restrooms and accessibility. NO Bathrooms for Handicap on the 2nd level on the East side. There is only 1 elevator on the east side. People in wheelchairs should NOT have to go 2 levels down and then still have issues with the size of the restroom and accessibility. (I know this is a special issue, but it should have been addressed). The lines of people that did not want to walk down the stairs or even the numbers of elderly that have difficulty with the stairs and any other reasons people have to use the elevator, well it made it very slow, ….. and there were long lines to get on the 1 small elevator. I think it was bad planning to make the handicap have to use the elevator to get to a restroom. I had hoped they would really make an effort to address those types of issues. I offered to share concerns a year ago. Again, I was told they would consult an ADA Advisory Group and they were confident that there would be huge improvements in those regards. If they did I would be very surprised? Just a minor note.... The women's restroom on the east side flooded bad. The water was coming out of the entrance of the restroom.

3). The Sound system IMO, it was not a huge improvement, at least from our seats (east side 2nd level). It was very difficult to understand at times. It also cut in and out often when they were talking over the portable mics. Never heard the refs at all.

4). The ribbon board on the Game Day Building. They removed the old Score Display Board that was there. In years past, I could see, or at least I think I remember being able tp see the teams down that we were currently on, and a clear indication of the yardage needed for a new set of downs. If they had that on the ribbon display, it was ….WAY TO SMALL???? The same on the big video board. If it was there it was to small for me to see?

LOVE the following from a real game scenario in regards to the stadium.

1). Love the concourse areas under the 2nd level and I'm sure the other levels are Great as well.

2). Video Board..... In general it is a BIG improvement

3). The Light Show Loved the concept and think this will have great potential in the future.

4). WATCHING THE GAME in the CLOUDS, Well on the 2nd or 3rd levels! Yes I know this is a singularly and not a shared WAHOO moment for most people. But, being able to see the game from an advantage point (2nd or 3rd levels) and not at the ground level, because you were restricted by barriers. Well especially for people that maybe confined to a wheelchair... WELL THAT IS A BIG DEAL. I am so thankful to be able to see the game, without a million students and other fans walking in front of you just at the moment of a big play.... finally we are able to see the game with a new perspective. In the past this was not possible at an Old Dominions Football Game. I would like to thank the ODU Administration and powers to be for this AMAZING gift. This is such a BIG DEAL...It made the whole night a much more enjoyable event.

5.) The Stadium in general IT Looks terrific and the Stadium will become a show place. I am very PROUD of our NEW STADIUM. It will be a huge advantage over the OLD STADIUM for recruiting and just as a visible reminder of how GREAT ODU is. The UNIVERSITY and the community needed this. After the game last night, I really became even more excited about any future improvements and the potential for the stadium as we embark on Phase II or even Phase III in the future. IMO, I think the stadium looks MUCH larger than the stated capacity of 22,500. I also loved the accessibility around the stadium in general. Even with the crowds it was much easier to move around.
