For the second time in a couple of weeks, WHAS radio out of Louisville is talking up Memphis basketball, which is really unusual in Louisville. In their sports section this morning, they reported on the Tigers exhibition yesterday and then played a clip from Penny talking about the game. They went on to talk about how Memphis is going to be a force this season. I don't know if they are really that fascinated with Memphis or just trying to rub Kentucky fans the wrong way. Either way, Penny is right. There is a lot of smoke around the Memphis program right now.

I miss the UL/UM rivalry. I used to love "hating" Denny Crum! It was always fun watching Dana Kirk get under Crum's skin. LOL

When Texas Longhorn TV network contract folds into ESPN+ expect them and Missouri (depends on what Walton’s decide) to B10. B10 has a lot of opposition to OU who goes to SEC in Missouri’s spot (yes OU and OSU can separate and still play OOC). Kansas and Okie State to PAC 12. Kansas MAY slide info’s Missouri’s spot in SEC if significant progress made in football in next few years. PAC 12 becomes relevant again with teams in central time zone.

Just for fun let's look at academic standing for the U of Memphis, UCF and the power 5 conference schools.
At # 165 UCF is better than only #171 Louisville. # 177 Miss State, # 187 Tx Tech and # 205 West Vir.

The univ of Memphis is in the Tier 2 rated with a bunch of schools in Alpha order as between 230-301.

They already have a "one of these things is not like the others" and we are not even like the one of these things. Being similar in standing is an issue for the ACC just like it was for the B12 and the B12 is the worst of the P5 in avg rankings. We can and should invest in playing the stats ranking game. Ga State did it masterfully coming from no where. UCF also did a pretty good job moving up the ladder.
