True, but it's not out of the ordinary for schools/teams to do. The trip is being tied in with one of the summer courses the players took on Italy.
Makes sense. I just thought there were more games.
Last thing I want is some Italian hot shot hurting one of our guys or just your run of the mill accident of stepping on someone and tweaking an ankle. We don't need any of that.
We do that enough in inter-squad
Exactly. I'm glad they're taking the trip, but I don't want anyone over doing it. A game or two seems fine with me.
Two games in a week is pretty usual time frame for a regular season week. The travel is a very good thing educationally. To paraphrase Santayana - "A person educated only at school is an uneducated person". A lot of students don't get the opportunity to travel like they are. They have the chance to become better and broader minded young men. Both are vital parts of becoming better educated in this world. I hope they all enjoyed & took proper advantage of this experience.
I'll get off my soapbox now. I just feel strongly about the educational value of travel. Granted, they travel a good bit during the season but not internationally.
You ready to concede Tolefree playing the 4 at UNCW???
I'd be interested to see if he was actually playing the role of a 4. Skaggs is bigger than him and has more of a 4 body.... So no not really, to answer your question. Also, I can't see that being his role once Sims comes back. I wouldn't take the order the players are listed as what position they're playing. The first game had Tolefree listed 5th, and he definitely wasn't playing the 5 over Linssen.

“ Itcame down to making shots and they made their shots in the second half. We didn't get the stops that we needed to and they made some guarded shots”
Well, coaches typical excuse is in mid season form.

Lol. Can they just frame that and put it in the media room?

Lack of self awareness is a 'red flag' with any leader.
Here is a video of KK Kolubara playing a game earlier this year. Gives (I guess) an idea of the caliber of the competition that put up 91 against us?
The second video looks like it’s their academy team which is often made up of high schoolers. These types of academies are big in Europe.
I know for a fact this is the Academy team. One encouraging sign is that so many players scored for us. Balance and depth will be key this season as we do not have any veterans. Tough to draw any conclusions about this year's team so far. This Serbian Team was the first proper competition, as they won the 2nd Division and as a result will move up to the 1st Division next season.
Serbia is an extremely talented Basketball country, especially offensively speaking. (On a seperate note, Vasa Pusica moved to the Serie 'A' in Italy for 2019-20 which is quite impressive).
Honestly, I feel this year's version of the Hawks will have chemistry because they are young, athletic and full of hope....at this point. Losing multiple games early can be detrimental to young players Psyche unless a Coach can 'coach' the mental part of the game and be solid with adjustments to not only bolster the team's confidence in winning the next game but in the HC as well. CB has his work cut out for him.
Let's look at some positives. Obviously it's hard to have any real takeaways without seeing it live, but Boggs averaging 8 ppg with 2 solid performances, especially 10 versus a pro team should indicate he's ready for rotation minutes as a freshman. Linssen looks to be winning the battle for 5, Dodd might take some time to transition offensively, but his ability to grab rebounds and block shots will see him get plenty of playing time. Sims should be back by the time practice starts. Gadsden is the biggest question mark as of now, but we're lucky to have a guy like Tolefree who can replace him offensively, we'll see about his defense.

Huge fan of Boggs. He'll be the surprise of the team this season. Live, big body with shooting touch. It's just a matter of time before he gains strength if he can stay healthy. I see him taking some of Skaggs minutes as the season continues.
