When driving from Kansas to Florida we would always spend the night in Russelville. Most beautiful girls anywhere. Even more than Troy or San Marcos and that is saying something.

This may have something to do with a 6th-7th grade boy not being as observant on this topic as a college-aged man, but I lived in Russellville for just under two years at that age and don't remember the women.

I have a theoretical 1000 page photo album etched to memory in my head chronicling images I've seen in San Marcos though.

Oh I suspect you are right. Probably just happened to see several in a row. Sort of the same thing probably happened at SWTS. I waiting for my girl friend to come down from her room in the women's high rise.

Saw one beauty after another coming in. I wonder if maybe the Strutters had just got off practice, etc. but it still left an impression.

BTW I was a Federal Agent when we were driving from Kansas to Florida and my wife was prettier than any of them.
Nope, that's just an average day in San Marcos.

Yup, I remember saying "yes" to myself 90% of the time as Id walk across campus. Yall can imagine what question all the yesses were answering.

RE: Did you attend the school you pull for?
I graduated from App in 1984. I started following App football about a year prior to starting there because my sister went there ahead of me. We had a gentleman in our church who was a huge App fan / supporter and he started inviting me to games once he found out I had applied. I grew up pulling for Georgia because my father and most of my extended family went there. I still pull for Georgia as my #2 team but I don't put nearly the effort into them (or any other team). I have a couple of teams in the ACC that I pull for in a very general way but nothing really resembling fandom.

At 7 years old I helped my Grandad set up labs in the Physical Science Dept.at A-State. I've been a somewhat fanatical fan ever since......and yes, obtained a Psychology degree with an emphasis in Business Management from Arkansas State University.

Yes, but it was Georgia Southern College at the time (and remained so for a couple of decades after I left).

Yep. I started before baseball, basketball and football. It almost took me as long to finish as it did for South to start football. Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration.

Obviously, the P5 programs get way more Wal Mart fans than any of us will likely ever get, but I'm curious if there are any fans posting here, that didn't attend the school they pull for, and if so, what pulled you in to pulling for that school?

I did attend Troy for one summer semester class, but what really drew me to Troy is how well Dothan sports journalists and local tv anchors really endorse the school. The Dothan Eagle has very long articles about Troy which at times really compete with Alabama and Auburn for more space.

Didn't have college team before attending GS, so I pull for the school I attended. Would still pull for GS even if I went back for graduate school at a big university.

Grew up UGA fan before Georgia Southern had football and followed Erk Russell's progress starting the program while in high school. Was recruited by GSC in '86-'87 but didn't follow through. Got hooked watching 1985 NC game. Ended up a double Eagle BS and MEd

Yep. Both of my kids have degrees from App and are big time fans. My son is in law school at UNC and proudly wears his App gear to class.

There’s nothing like a fall football Saturday in Boone.

RE: Did you attend the school you pull for?
I grew up in Georgia, but hated UGA because of all the dumba$$ rednecks at my school that pulled for them. Ended up being a die hard UNC fan. Out of state admissions for UNC were crazy, so I didn't get in there. My options were Louisville, UGA, Ga Southern, and a couple other smaller schools. Hated UGA enough I that I refused to go there. Only applied because my parents made me.

After my first football season at Southern, the UNC stuff and fandom was gone and GS is the only school I support.

Of all the teams in Georgia, you ended up a UNC fan? 01-wingedeagle Thank god you're a GS fan!

This is why I grew up never caring for UNC. Not because of the Rednecks but because of the Wal-Mart fandom.

Haha! When I wrote that, I figured there would be more than one GS fan who had that reaction! My brother lives in South Georgia and I spend some time down there every year. He actually does some work with Georgia Southern and has a picture of himself posing with GUS. Ugh! I almost disowned him as my brother when I saw that! Somehow our family bond survived. 04-cheers

RE: Did you attend the school you pull for?
Grew up an Auburn fan and still pull for the Tigers except when they play Georgia Southern. Attended and graduated from a branch campus of Troy in 1982. I first time I ever visited Troy's main campus was almost 30 years after graduating. I started following Georgia Southern when my nephew was a member of the football team. Erk Russell was the only football coach that coached for another team that my father would always point out when Georgia was playing Auburn while I was growing up so I was aware of the Georgia Southern football program when it started up around the time my father passed away.

I mean, don't most high school fans fall under the "walmart" fandom? lol
