Did you attend the school you pull for?
I know on the GS forums, we have some guys who have been fans of GS since the 80s, but never attended school at Southern. Obviously, the P5 programs get way more Wal Mart fans than any of us will likely ever get, but I'm curious if there are any fans posting here, that didn't attend the school they pull for, and if so, what pulled you in to pulling for that school?

Daughter went to TXST - BA 2004, MA 2007 (thus the handle CatMom)

I started going to games in 2004. I'm nothing if not loyal.

Was going to App games (basketball and football) 10 years before I enrolled thanks to living an hour away and family ties. I didn't want to go anywhere else.

Arkansas Tech Wonder Boy. I cheer for Little Rock and Arkansas State because Arkansas is a homestate to me, growing up mostly in Little Rock. I will admit to being a former pig fan.

Troy the school I attended as an undergrad will always be my school and who I always put first. I have graduate degrees from other schools but they mean almost nothing to me.

I used to listen to Florida games on the radio in the 50s. Still pull for them. Still remember Tommy Durrance, Larry Rentz, Richard Trap who made the greatest punt return ever. Hurdler and New York Jets star, Steve Tannen, John (darn I can't remember his last name), and many others.

When driving from Kansas to Florida we would always spend the night in Russelville. Most beautiful girls anywhere. Even more than Troy or San Marcos and that is saying something.

No, I am a UNC Greensboro alumnus. I started pulling for App when I started dating my wife (who went there) in '82. Later, my daughter and my money went to Appalachian as well as my son-in-law. As I like to say, I married and fathered into the Appalachian family.

Class of 2006! Proud Chanticleer. I started classes as a full-time student the semester our football team debuted (Fall of 2003) so I've always felt a strange kinship with the program...

I was a former Tar Heel fan but that all changed when I started attending App State.

RE: Did you attend the school you pull for?
I am a first generation college student so I had parents that followed some other schools in the state but I do remember going to some App football with my dad when I was a young lad in the 70s. I do have an aunt and uncle that graduated from ASTC and ASU in the 60s

I went to App, my wife went to App, our oldest daughter just graduated from App, and what I assume will be a future son-in-law will be graduating from App in a few months. My daughter is a rabid App fan now and when she entered App I am not sure if she could explain how to get a first down to be honest.

I have younger twin daughters that I would have been happy to attend App but they presented VERY well to some very nice private colleges and they decided to go to the other colleges and given the financial package they both got (both need and merit) I am equally happy with there choices. But I do enjoy sharing the App connection with my oldest.

I remember eating at a small restaurant and the waitress looked as good as Jaclyn Smith, Another one nearly as good but it was the checkout girl at Walmart who looked like Farrah Fawcett even had the hair. maybe it was her twin. Just as we pulled a way from the entrance ramp to I-40, a gorgeous blonde was driving a state car. I still wonder if it was Jennifer Flowers.

Grew up Tarheel fan. Never knew about App even though I was only an hour away. Had a cousin go there while I was in HS and then started going up to ski when I was a Jr in HS. Only applied to Chapel Hill and App, got into App first and they were highly rated in the degree I was going for.

Didn't grow up watching CFB, and was the first member of my family to attend a "football school". First college game I attended was freshman year of college. Hooked ever since.

RE: Did you attend the school you pull for?
No.

I was born in Jonesboro in 1959. I went to work for the local newspaper when I was 18. I worked in to a position as head photographer. I worked there for 18 years and I not only covered the university for the newspaper but I also worked for the university as a free lance photographer. A big chunk of that was for their sports information office.

So I'm an old school Indian/Red Wolf.

I am an App Alum. App has one of our more frequent message board posters that I know is not an alum. I've seen ericsaid post on more than one occasion he is an ECU alum.
