RE: clt asks what do you prefer?
This is just my preference because it can make a small stadium look larger in size.

I like the ones that look like they are built on a hole in the ground unfortunately ODU can't do that with high water table and soil issues.

RE: clt asks what do you prefer?
My ex-brother-in-law and some of my ex wife’s friends came up from south Florida for our wedding and we went to see Marshall host Toledo on ESPN in 1999. He was laughing and casting shade on The Joan because the size was small on the outside... and then we popped through the tunnel. He shut up pretty quickly. He said, “Damn! This is pretty damned big!”

So yeah, my preference is in-ground.

In that case, Marshall fans like above ground stadiums in their front yards next to the trampoline that hasnt been used in a decade.

Easy. NC has more trailer parks than any other state.

RE: clt asks what do you prefer?
Marshall's stadium is technically built below the water table. During heavy rains, a pumping system is used to pump the water off the field.

Old Mountaineer Field at wvu literally had one side of the stadium built on a sloping hillside. The other side was built from the ground up. It was a weird place, the first time you attended a game there.

Above ground.

If the whole hole is surrounded it's not bad but when it's not you feel like you are sitting in a hole in a cow pasture. Till our second trip to Marshall I didn't realize they had a hole in the ground stadium. To be fair we left NYC at 8pm the night before and drove over mountains with snow flakes as big as baseballs and got to the game 10 minutes before kickoff. So I didnt notice much.

At a night game @Ark St you could feel the dew/fog from the pasture next to the stadium rolling over the top of you.

No matter how many seats this stadium holds or how many buildings they build in the endzone. It will feel like they dug a hole in a cow pasture and put a football field in it. It's like putting lipstick on a pig

Cmon Guns, that’s hardly neither accurate nor fair about Marshall. I mean, I get that you detest our stadium. That’s fine. You have your right to your opinion. But the damned thing is located no place that would remind anyone of a cow pasture.

You need to reread my post I did not say anything bad about Marshall's stadium. The pictures are Ark St stadium and if I did not say so, then my mistake but I'm fairly sure I did

edit: after checking my post you really do need to reread it...btw I dont hate Marshall's stadium. I do not like the outside of it and as I said before that's more on me because of what I did for a living since the age of 17. So= my context is based off that. But damn I would never compare it to the cow pasture of Ark St. Marshall's stadium is surround by seats and you cant tell its a hole in the ground stadium from walking up to it.

I like below because I believe it's cheaper to build (fewer building materials required), is probably more structurally sound, and doesn't dominate the campus (though some would consider that a drawback). It might even make the stadium louder because there are fewer places for the noise to escape. Just seems like there are more positives to it than the alternative.

To be fair, the upper decks at Historic Rice Stadium are about the size of the average CUSA stdium. And the sunken bowl is also. So we didn't have to choose.

Apogee at UNT is below ground but not as much as they originally wanted because of the water table.

The only reason I would choose one or the other is having the field lower makes it easier for fans to get to the upper portions of the stadium.
