They kept up the attack throughout. I'm not much into soccer but from what I've seen these women are technically much better than many men's teams. They may lack some speed and strength but they are technically superior IMO. It was a fun watch.
Nah, mate. You're barking up the wrong tree.

US Women’s Soccer Player Ignored The National Anthem As An ‘F-You’ To Trump
Those last 15 minutes were not technical at all. Kept giving away possession on both sides

I thought the USL ones were free too, my bad. This is where pro/rel could possibly help. Give them incentive to have free academies.
Need to expand the reach. Even if pro team academies are free/low cost, I live in a metro area of 1.6M. Closest MLS club is DC United, which is about 2.5 hours away. Closest USL team is North Carolina FC (btw we played their academy team in a Virginia Beach tournament last year and won), which is about 3 hours away. So our choices are Rush, several high priced, high volume local clubs, and some low price, low volume volunteer clubs. We chose the latter because we happened to stumble upon an exceptional situation, but the landscape really does blow and pretty much excludes anyone not in the upper-middle class other than the token black kid every club has that they found dominating rec and let in for free solely for the purpose of virtue signaling.
It’s not for virtue signaling. It’s to say that you were the club that produced that person if they go pro.
Now, the reach needs to be expanded, I agree. But MLS isn’t going to be able to quite do it like that. They can realistically only cover so much ground. My cousin, who has been an NFL scout for about 15 years, calls this problem “A lot of guys, not enough eyes”. So here’s my proposal:
USSoccer needs to secure investments that will allow them to place licensed coaches and scouts in as many regions as you can. Apportion all of the coaches amongst towns and cities in the region. For example, my hometown of Henderson, NC (and the surrounding areas of Oxford, Franklinton, Louisburg, Creedmoor, Warrenton, etc) would probably have one big club with 5 or so age groups in them. Wake, Durham, Orange would probably have a lot more clubs. Have these clubs feature low cost and regular training and competition between each other, as often as possible.
As they play and train more and more, the cream will rise to the top and scouts will pick them out.
It would also help if there was a website like 247 for soccer players.

It’s like women’s basketball. It seems more technically sound because they can’t and don’t have to take as many risks as the men.

Hmmm, that may well be. I don't know the game at all, which may be obvious. Thanks

What an absurd statement. Her performance on the field has nothing to do with her statements off the field or the inappropriateness of them.
Didn’t say it did. I’m just saying it’s not going well for the Rapinoe haters. And I’m probably one of the principal ones of those who like her play but dislike her statements.
She's a hell of a player. I thought for a long time that she was the glue that held the team together, and I thought taking her off against Japan in 2011 cost us a World Cup. Japan scored the equalizer 3 minutes after she left, and won in PKs. I don't think she got her proper due until she became so vocal politically. That says something about our sporting press--and not a good thing.
I agree completely with Owl. If only Trump haters could get past his views and his personality and focus on the positive things he does for our country it would be wonderful. Just like I don't like her views or politics but I can admire her soccer play, let's do the same for Trump, please.

It may have already been mentioned here but is Rapino alone on the team in this protest or have others also joined her Hate America First Squad?
