2019 CUSA football returning production ranking
This was linked in another thread but I thought it kinda deserves it's own thread. Here's a ranking of everyone's offensive, defensive, & total team production that's returning this year.

https://www.sbnation.com/college-footbal...experience

2019 CUSA returning production (as of Jan. 31)
1. Southern Miss (4th in the nation) - 94% OFF - 71% DEF - 82% TOTAL
2. Rice (5th) - 76% OFF - 85% DEF - 81% TOTAL
3. FIU (6th) - 85% OFF - 76% DEF - 80% TOTAL
4. WKU (14th) - 81% OFF - 72% DEF - 76% TOTAL
5. La Tech (30th) - 76% OFF - 68% DEF - 72% TOTAL
6. Charlotte (51st) - 60% OFF - 69% DEF - 65% TOTAL
7. North Texas (59th) - 79% OFF - 48% DEF - 63% TOTAL
8. UTSA (89th) - 66% OFF - 51% DEF - 59% TOTAL
9. Marshall (94th) - 63% OFF - 50% DEF - 57% TOTAL
10. FAU (96th) - 57% OFF - 56% DEF - 57% TOTAL
11. ODU (111th) - 45% OFF - 62% DEF - 53% TOTAL
12. MTSU (122nd) - 45% OFF - 51% DEF - 48% TOTAL
13. UTEP (124th) - 58% OFF - 35% DEF - 46% TOTAL
14. UAB (130th...dead last in college) - 33% OFF - 39% DEF - 36% TOTAL

I'm kinda shocked. I didn't realize UAB returned that little team production this year...

RE: 2019 CUSA football returning production ranking
Have you not read about how the NCAA let us play 85 20th year seniors who had 5 years of professional experience? The NCAA gave us that title because they love us so much, it was all part of the master plan of shutting football down.

In all seriousness, we lost a ton on both lines, and basically every bit of production at receiver. It appears we have done a decent job recruiting needs, but we all know an O-Line typically takes time to gel. I have enough faith in what is returning that I can't see our floor being anything less than 6 wins, but we have a lot of new guys who will be counted on. The classes should be more balanced after this though, so moving forward I would be shocked to see anything like this again unless we somehow started sending JR's to the draft repeatedly.

Yep, just our luck at MT. We finally win the east and then had to turn around and beat a bunch of 26 year olds two weeks in a row. Amazing we kept the title game close.

I find it interesting (and promising) that three C-USA teams return so much of their roster to be in top 6 in the nation by this criteria.

On the other hand, what does returning 81% of your roster that went 2-11 last year means?

Many here always call me crazy when I say that USM will win 10+ games and the CUSA champ this year. We were 7 points away from hosting the 'ship last year....

FAU had returned 17 starters in 2018 from the 2017 roster that went 11-3. As the result, we went 5-7 in 2018.

Returning lots of talent is never a guarantee.

You were five points from being 3-5 in conference and you scored a touchdown against us to make the score a little better.

I'm sure Southern Miss will be better this season, but I'm not seeing the C-USA Championship in their future. I fully expect North Texas to represent the west. Our offense should be electric, and Littrell and his staff are loading up on grad transfers to shore up the weak areas in our depleted defense. Today, North Texas added an Arizona State DB that was a 4 star recruit and a national top 25 DB when he came out of high school. From what I'm seeing, UNT is looking to make some serious noise this year.

We understand that UNT is the team we have to beat in the West this year. I expect UAB to be down this year (but back up next year, because coaching matters) and the other three Texas schools to stay out of contention. LaTech will be good, but I think we're better, and in their heads. Last year UNT slapped us around and showed how far we have to come to beat them. Hopefully we're there now. Marshall and the Florida twins are the three competing in the East, from my view.

Heck, FAU, who were 3-5 in the conference, were, nevertheless, within 7 points from playing in the Championship game themselves. Reality is that C-USA has incredible parity among its membership (aside from a few teams in the cellar)

And, it turned out, it was the defense (that returned 10 out of 11 players) that struggled, not the offense.

I wonder if a electric offense means the same as it did the previous 10 seasons in CUSA...

UNT's 34.6 (and FIU) the top scoring teams in CUSA is the lowest scoring output from this conference over the past 11 years (all I checked)

It's the very first time from 2008-2018 that CUSA did not have at least one team to score 40 points or over. Ten or more points under 2014, 2015 and 2016 now those were electric offenses

I expect the North Texas offense to average better than 40 points per game. We have a senior heavy offense with an upgrade in our OC position. I can't wait to see this system in fall camp.

Anything over 31ppg usually means at least 8 wins and if a team does get to 40+ points they should be #1 or #2 in their division in wins.

UNT very well could have upgraded in asst coaches but as FAU saw last season with 3 or 4 coaches leaving including the OC and DC. Its not as simple as fans believe it will be. We will see if UNT is the exception.

Our defense is going to be stout, again. Prob. another T10 statistical season. Our offense just needs to average about 1 yard more per game on the ground and everything else will fall into place.

Every change that Jay Hopson needed to make this offseason, he made. Last year our o-line couldn't get a push on anyone and our run game was absolutely non-existent. So Hopson fired our o-line coach and S&C coord. Our offensive play-calling was incredibly suspect. Thank god our OC was "highly encouraged" to take an offensive position at Houston. We hired some really solid o-line/s&c and OC coaches. On top of that, the OC that everyone wanted was our WR coach. Well, he'll be Co-OC'ing along with our new OC. Again, I have USM going 10-2 this year and hosting the CUSA championship.

Yes. He's already back on campus and taking classes.
