Do they know who those leagues WOULD be targeting instead or are they simply content with the status quo and no real moves are seen as likely) because trying to get membership in one of those P Leagues was the only reason they revived football to begin with.
If their info is telling them they’ve got no chance then why not focus on what your good at vs regional rivals in what is still a highly respected basketball power conference?
Yeah, I think it signals that the next round of realignment will be about absorbing one of the present P5 and that there will be no promotion of G5 schools period. And it may draw ire but the most logical conference to break up is the ACC. 14 of their schools could be easily placed.
Let's say that the SEC decided to close ranks in the deep South so we went to 16 with Clemson and Florida State. Let's also say that N.D. sees the handwriting on the wall for revenue so they depart to the Big 10 with Virginia.
Kansas, Iowa State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State head to the PAC giving them a basketball brand, a football brand, 2 AAU schools and 4 CTZ slots to sell. (This happens with ESPN landing a larger share of the PAC rights)
Texas rebuilds the Big 12 (or ACC) into the Big 16:
Baylor, Kansas State, Texas, Texas Tech
Duke, North Carolina, N.C. State, Wake Forest
Boston College, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia
Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, T.C.U. (3 are major air hubs).
No G5 promotion. Wake Forest is cut out. And we are at 64 and the two most difficult schools are in the same conference with their sycophantic groupies.
I could get into this SEC:
Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina
Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State
Arkansas, Louisiana State, Mississippi, Texas A&M
Clemson, Missouri, Tennessee, Vanderbilt
B1G:
Maryland, Notre Dame, Penn State, Virginia
Indiana, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers
Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern
Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin
PAC 16:
Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State
Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Utah
California, Cal Los Angeles, Southern Cal, Stanford
Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State
