This is a great opportunity for us. UCONN sucks in football and will never be good.

We want to be P6 we need a football school. Not many options but we get the right program we gain a lot from this.

BYU and Boise move the needs. Others would be OK. Not sure how long lasting Army's success would be if their coach leaves.

BYU or Army. Boise if they don’t go stupid and ask for a special deal. They aren’t special.

Outside of those 3 there is nothing worth adding. Stay at 11 if you don’t get these 3.

Army has the national brand that you can’t underestimate. Good or bad it doesn’t matter fans watch Army play and respect their programs. They would fit perfectly w Navy and the geography.

I’d be happy w adding Army for football, get BYU to do some kind of scheduling alliance if they don’t join outright. Maybe.....maybe then add VCU for all sports except football. That would offset UConn basketball and offer another NCAA contender every year.

In another thread, I stated that my hunch was that we would add Air Force (FB only, who would move their Olympic sports to the Horizon) and VCU as an Olympic program.

If we were to do this, it would be an upgrade by all reasonable measurements.

I also wonder if we’ll somehow wind up with a bunch of MWC teams, or just Army for FB only.

Im fine with that.

but I'd be fine with VCU or Dayton basketball too

but some are saying its an all sports or nothing deal...sooooo

I assume those saying its all sports or nothing are saying that because the new ESPN deal stipulates it?

RE: Who moves the needle in Football? Get’em in here
The only nonP5 f-ball schools that move the needle are
BYU, Army, Boise St, then Air Force

After those 4,
NO ONE other school can move the f-ball needle as much

But IF AAC looked @ “potential” Longterm Value schools
Currently, AAC already have 2 school mbrs in both Texas/Florida
So, how 2 best spread the AAC footprint?

Top 3
ODU (#42 TV Mkt but located in Norfolk, Va/25K student enrollment)
OR
Georgia St (In Atlanta, 10th largest TV market/52K students)
OR
UNC @ Charlotte (25k St pop/ #23 TV Mrkt/fastest growing school in NC))

All located in fertile recruiting areas &
large TV mrkts &/or large pop base

I also wouldn't mind if we simply remain put... I'm just glad we no longer have to deal with a crappy football member.

If it had ever been about football, USM would have been chosen before any of you.

I hope your people are doing work. I'd trade Connecticut for southern miss in a New York minute. I'm just sad we didn't kick their half ass program out.

Give Army a call. They might be interested this time. If they say no, I’d say Old Dominion makes sense. UAB is building a new stadium and they came back from the dead plus they have history with the vast majority of schools. Those would be the 3 schools I’d considered if I was the commissioner.

BYU

We are lucky ESPN and BYU haven’t been able to reach an agreement on the new tv deal. Time for ESPN to do what they do best and strong arm them to either join the AAC and make more money or take a pay cut because independent hasn’t worked out.

Serious question 2

Does anyone from Mountain Time Zone really want to fly 1700 miles? And will fan bases on either end of that trip care?

Ok that's actually 2 questions...
