Just what we didn't need was another six to seven figures' worth of bad publicity. Fleck is a polarizing dude, but it's hard to dispute the fact that the **** has rolled downhill faster than an avalanche since he left. This kind of thing would still be bad publicity if he were still at WMU, but it is magnified because of our descent back into mediocrity.

peejay would have found a row boat and been out "on the field".

Agreed. He would've at least tried to minimize the damage. Like him or hate him, the guy understands publicity and marketing.

CMU fans are exploiting this to address their feelings of inferiority toward Western Michigan University.

Here are some highlights from last year's game at Waldo North Stadium, in Mount Pleasant. It justifies those feelings of inferiority. WMU is just better...and CMU fans know it.

Side note: the bands need to travel for this series again. Whatever happened in the past can't be changed and it's time to move on. The rivalry deserves both bands at each game.

Agreed.

That said, the visiting team's band needs to be invited. WMU would have to reach-out to CMU's band and ask it to come to Waldo and share the half-time show. This should be done.

Based on the highlights from 2018, if WMU's band had been invited to Waldo North Stadium, attendance would have increased 50 percent or more. Nobody was there!

WMU is just better.

A great project for our engineering school.

It wouldn't take an engineer. A farmer can put tiling in.

Never met a camera, microphone, or mirror he didn't like.

In all fairness beating Wisconsin (in Madison) and winning bowl game was big step forward for Fleck and Golden Goopher program.

Even though it was a Wisconsin team that had a lot of injuries, having a disappointing season, and Georgia Tech with lame-duck coach in the bowl game.

He-they need to take big step forward in Big Ten West division this year, build on last season's finish.

Waldo already has drain tile system with pumps.
Problem is field is lowest point around & gets all the rain water from Stadium Drive, West Michigan Ave & baseball/softball fields.

I don't think this is bad publicity. I think most people are intrigued by the pictures, but that's probably about it.

Agreed. It's a freak weather event and people get that. Just ignore the mouth breathers from up north.

There's WMU fans on this forum saying it's 'bush league', 'hurting recruiting,' etc.

You're 100% correct: Average Joe understand it's due to the rain non-stop for 2 months.

We all know what-how it happened.

And that it will be taken care of.

Still it's not good publicity.

Never heard of another stadium that had this or similar issue.

But won't stop us from beating Cheeps this year and beyond.

It's part of our charm. We. Are. Unique.

There really is only one WMU.

Very true!

Big reason why we should embrace school colors of BROWN and Gold, and get rid of the black.
