Frank, I think that's what everyone wants to see. Right now the vitriol is focused on Huge. I personally think it will take at least two recruiting cycles (starting with 2020) until we start to see real movement forward. Strings and rubber bands the next couple seasons will hopefully keep us competitive to some degree. One thing that rarely comes up on this board is about recruiting Euro kids. Seems to me that we could try that angle looking for high academic kids. Most teams recruit foreign players via prep schools in the US (Tot, Gustys, etc.). I hope that Fischer can recruit the DMV, Richmond, and Hampton Roads. Looks like the assistants have networks in the Midwest and South. Need to get into Philly and New York as with previous coaching regimes.

I wonder if Owens dodges the bullet or not. I read Odom is a name being put out there for the Michigan job. If offered, he's not turning that down. If it is simply about being close to home for LJ, it won't matter. If it is about the coaching staff, it could be trouble.

African ballers are filling the prep schools, not just here but in Canada. Let’s tap this lode!!

Yep, tough to argue that Shaver was losing this player already.

Obviously not all were gone before the firing, although not all were staying either. Seems to me to be a gasoline meets fire scenario.

The only one who was considering other options was Knight.

Why weren't they in the portal immediately after the season ended? I'm not talking about thinking about maybe transferring. I'm talking about knowing they were going to transfer prior to or during the season.

Or conversely why were some of them, or people close them putting out highlight videos?

Entirely my opinion and I'm not going out on a limb here, but I think if there wasn't a coaching change:

Knight still would have declared
Milon would transfer
Pierce would transfer
Chase 50/50 to transfer
LJ stays
Luke still stays
Cam stays committed
Probably get a late signing like Zac Ervin.

My opinion only is you’re correct except I think Milon was closer to 50/50 and Nathan would have been a higher probability to return.

Fair enough. I still believe Nate returns either way.

1. impossible to know as there was a change
but
2. I agree, as releases not given to players, and Knight should have declared for exposure

I'm setting myself up for disappointment, but with the lack of a palpable pre-draft buzz I don't think there is another logical outcome for Nate.
Who knows though? Maybe he is just ready to get his pro career started.

I found the Owens article quote about applying for an exemption interesting. Along with the Pierce comment at the bb dinner saying he hopes to play with Nate in the future, I’m hoping that doesn’t give Nate ideas.
