If you guys want in, this might be a good thread to talk among yourselves and elect a GM.

A heads up that the rules have been tweaked to look more like an expansion draft:

Quote:The Rules:
- Conferences pick in reverse order of last year's conference Sagarin ratings
- Conferences first declare 5 teams protected. Those teams are the initial 5 that the conference starts with. All non-protected teams then become "free agents."
- Conferences use the 7 rounds of the draft to accumulate 12 teams total. If for any reason a conference has less than 12 teams at the conclusion of the 7 rounds, they are granted as many immediate compensatory draft picks as is necessary to reach 12.
- Conferences can pick a "free agent" team of peer status or lower (P5 -> G5 -> FCS)
- Conferences can negotiate trades for both teams and picks or a combination of the two though I as commissioner must agree to them to make sure we have no shenanigans going on to empty out conferences

Accordingly, top priority along with selecting a GM should be selection of the five protected schools in each conference.

Five protected schools, yeah I’ll pass. SEC protects Bama A&M UGA LSU and whoever and still the best conference.

I say we protect CCU, TxSt, USA, ULM and GaSt just because it would not be expected. Then in the first several rounds pick up UL, Troy, stAte, then GS and App.

That sounds like a good base. Then the extra two can be whatever. ECU and SMU or Tulane or something.

I nominate Chiefsfan for GM. Even if his NFL allegiances are questionable, he's still the smartest one here.

We gotta protect our marketz.

If Chieffan is out, I'll do it. I have nothing better to do it seems.

Wow....he is gonna be insufferable....or some big word like that.

So far,

Protected schools: Georgia State, Georgia Southern, App State, Louisiana, Troy

Picks: East Carolina

With Tulane, USM, and UAB still available, I'm betting YH will try to work work his way in from UL with one or more of those schools to meet the East schools he protected.

I like them all

I enjoyed the UNCC fan protecting his team so they weren't picked in the bottom third of the draft.
