RE: Justin Hall Transferring
What I don't get in all these transfers is the comment "my time here has been phenomenal."
Is this more a comment on todays youth, the coaching staff, the prior staff, STF, friends and family? What pray tell is it? Normally you don't leave when you've had a phenomenal time. SMH.

RE: Justin Hall Transferring
I am not surprised at this one. He seemed lost at safety. I wish they had given him the opportunity to play offense. Maybe they did, who knows.
Man are we thin at safety for 2020. I am assuming Romel Goston and Justin Clark of the incoming class will get tried there. Regardless, the coaches need to bring some JUCO/transfers in next year.

Maybe just maybe, a player wanted to stay and was shown the door. 2 sides to every story.
We just lost 3 of best Illinois HS Players in (2016 & 2017).
Rowell , Kokosioulis were POY in some publications.
Hall was an All American.

Salty players. I get the feel that most of these guys would’ve left this year anyway. If you can’t outplay your competition you won’t start. I would have liked to see Hall on offense though.

Wonder if this would be being said if Rod was still the coach lol.

Bummer, I was really looking forward to see what this kid can do. Not often are we able to recruit an under armor all American. Wonder what the scenario is. Do these recent transfers not like the coaching change, are they not welcoming competition and looking for an easy way out? Or does Coach Hammock have some transfers coming of his own? If anything he should have a very large recruiting class this upcoming year with all these departures.

I’m sure people would be all over Carey. He wore out his welcome with fans.

Hammock made it pretty clear that you will have to compete to play from the moment he got there. Might not sit well with players who thought they were a shoe in.....

If this is truly the reason he is leaving then I’m sorry, good riddance. Nothing in life is handed to you. I’m sure there are plenty of factors that we will never now about. Best of luck to him, just don’t go to a rival!

None of these transfers had much if any chance of seeing the field this year

Yeah I was curious so I asked the beat writer if he talked to any of these guys.
He didn’t confirm with a yes but said what Randy is saying. Also stated this new coaching staff has been very direct on players on their opportunities and where things stand. So seems to be these guys are looking for the best chance to play. I’d assume all these guys go FCS if that’s the case.

It's unfortunate that these guys are leaving. I think that Hall and Koko are terrific athletes, however, we went out and got even better athletes at the positions they played. From the way it looked, they probably realized how far down the depth chart they were and wanted to take their chances playing at schools that could use their services.

It’s interesting how they specifically thank the previous coaching staff. I guess those coaches did have a good relationship with their players.

We saw things from the lens of a fan. Carey seemed to be hard on his players and ran an ultra conservative game plan. It seemed to win us more games than not, and even a few championships. I would assume many players are thankful to have taken part in that experience. As a fan, I'm thankful to have experienced a few Big 10 wins, championships, and Bowl invites. Those transferring players are good, but don't fit the great new system Hammock is bringing with him.

Its like any organization. Leader leaves, previous staff starts to leave, some join up with Leader who left. Not uncommon.
