Will the Horizon League expand (Fort Wayne + TBD) or stand pat?
LeCrone made a statement 2 years ago that the Horizon League had plans to go to 12-16 but went silent as plans presumably fell through. However the Summit Commissioner recently intimated in a radio interview he doesn’t expect Fort Wayne to stick around long.

A familiar face gets involved and a Horizon League poster namedrops DavidSt on page 3.

This makes at least 4 conference forums (AAC board, MVC board, WAC twitter) where DavidSt has been discussed as different leagues become aware of his track record of premonitions.

Why does the Horizon need to be more watered down unless they're bringing in Murray State or Belmont?

David St has a mission. His goal is to ensure every D2 school in the country has a shot at going D1.

I think both Bellarmine and Southern Indiana would be huge additions

Nodak is a clown. Keep spreading your fantasy across every conference message board.

He has to peddle his tripe somewhere, now that he semi-banished himself from this board. He believes that if you say something often enough, and with enough conviction, eventually it will come true, regardless of evidence or logic.

He's trying to sell the Great Northern on eGriz now.

I don't think it's a matter of being more watered down than a matter of trying to secure the conference's resurgence along with internal growth from present conference members. Fort Wayne would be the more likely invitee because of their respectable MBB and the need for them to cut back on travel costs going to Colorado, Nebraska and the Dakotas (at least 3 times a year!) Southern Indiana although a DII, just finished up playing in the Final Four! If I'm the HL, I wouldn't hold off on USI and let them go to another DI conference for seasoning. I don't think that conference would be willing to let them go, especially if it's the OVC. They made a mistake once by not even inviting NKU.

Bottom line for me is if nothing happens a month after the NCAA final game, then it won't happen this off-season.

Southern Indiana and Bellarmine both are tops of the D2 men's basketball. Adding any D1 schools would not help bring their RPI up one bit. Those 2 schools are usually rank in PRWolfe ahead of the majority of the Horizon League's schools. D2 schools showed that they could make the tournament in a short time like FGCU, Northern Kentucky, Lipscomb, Belmont North Florida, etc. It may not hurt HL to invest in in either school to join.

Is something brewing? There is now quite the hornet’s nest as the topic nears 200 posts.

Why would PFW make a lateral move? I’d rather be in a conference with NDSU and SDSU. Although I think NDSU and SDSU should move up to the MAC.

Travel cost go from one or two conference members within driving distance to all the conference.

The reason Idaho , Montana , Montana St and Weber St could move to the Summit. Add ISU for WSU and EWU for Idaho's travel partners.
They might want to play with NDSU, SDSU, USD, UND, Denver and Omaha.
Ten for top FCS football conference by far.
Seven state flagships and highly rated Denver.
Decent markets in Denver, Spokane, Omaha and Fargo.
Two fairly compact divisions good travel partners.
Highest supported Summit and Big Sky basketball and football schools.

Vs PSU , Sac ST, NAU, SUU and NCU
Good schools but the BSC is pretty spread out for no reason.
The Summit is the same way.

Murray St to MVC
W Illinois to OVC
PFW to Horizon
Oral Roberts to WAC
Sac St Big West
PSU to Big West
NAU, SUU and NCU to WAC close to GCU , DSU, and UVU good for NMSU.

I give noDak a hard time with his Montana schools going to the Summit. They rather be with schools in the MWC instead.

As for something. It seems Detroit Mercy is having money problems and cut some majors to offset the budget. If they do have issues? would Wayne State buy their campus and replaced them in the Horizon? Be something to consider.
