To me...put Wade on Edwards every 4 minutes for a couple of minutes and tell him to get after him HARD. Also Cline can drive the ball so play slightly off and let him shoot the 3.

Cline shoots 42% from 3 on 9 attempts per 40. Thats probably a bad idea.

We are going to play man, it's what we do. Maybe we throw in a wrinkle with a 1-3-1, but Purdue shoots so often and so well from 3 that that would be a huge risk. Plus they are really good at offensive rebounding which we would give up a lot of O-boards.

What we'll end up doing is the same defensively we do every game. Try to cut off the lane, make them shoot long jumpers and contested 3s. I think we will see more Dickens/Kalu than we saw vs. WKY.

They are going to shoot a lot of 3s, we just gotta hope they are somewhat contested and they miss them.

Funny story. I was a teenage Nova fan back in 1995, absolutely convinced "my Wildcats" were going to win the national championship. Some women's basketball school broke my heart that day.

Then we have to be physical and rebound! Need to hustle, scrap and fight for every loose ball.

Watched the Villanova game at Magnolia's on Colley. Never will forget it.

As for Purdue- one thought I have not seen anywhere is the neutral floor impact. All these experts are conditioned to envision these games on the home floor of the P5 team. I think the neutral floor and neutral refs are a great equailzer. If the refs let us play physical we have a great chance.

Letting him Drive and draw fouls and score is worse. Like I said....they are a team where you must pick your poison.

Cline shoots about 1 free throw per game. Why does he shoot 1 free throw per game? Because 75% of his shots are 3 pointers (42% makes). 10% of his shots are at the rim. 15% of his shots are 2 point jumpers.

Cline is one of the most extreme 3 point shooters in the nation. He struggles inside the arc (mainly on 2 pointers outside of the paint.....26% field goal percentage). He's not going to drive and draw fouls, why would anyone want to play off one of the best 3 points shooters in the nation?

It is called help defense and we have to take our chances. I was speaking more of Edwards from a driving the ball perspective. Cline is a elite shooter but Edwards can kill you in more ways than 1. I am not too worried about Haarms,

I am sure Purdue and this Carsen fella are good but our boys got some
Serious swagger and will not be intimidated.

We will punch them in the gut with our physicality and make things difficult for them. Things won’t flow quite so easily for then on Thursday night. I don’t think these highlights we see against other teams will occur against our vaunted defense.

I hope the lid is taken off our rim but J.J. will have a game plan to keep us in the game and give us a chance. This team of ours are proven winners. I’m ready!!!!

Just to help you Boilermaker fans out, we do play a very in your face man to man defense, but can also throw in a 1-3-1 zone. Also, our starting 7 footer usually doesn't play many minutes and we rotate in another more agile 7 footer and go small with a 6'7ish freshman at the position as well.

Just wanted to post this, they seem to enjoy our board. haha
