Wait... state fans... complaining? Surely you’re mistaken!

No team with the worst OOC schedule in the nation should be rewarded with an at large bid, period!

NCSU, if they truly were deserving of an NCAA bid, should therefore be the best team in the NIT and have no trouble winning that tournament.

(FYI, I am not a Keatts hater. And I like NC State. But his scheduling tactics came home to roost, as they would have at UNCW in his last year had we not won the CAA tournament. Had we finished with 28 wins that year and lost the championship game, we too would have gone to the NIT.)

2) NC State hosts 7) Hofstra in the NIT.

Also, Brownell faces his previous team. 2) Clemson vs 7) Wright St

I'm praying Hofstra comes into Raleigh and wins big against State. Hofstra definitely has a chance against a team whose only notable win is against Auburn.

Restores some faith in the NCAA committee. P5 teams have multiple shots at big wins. NCSU and Clemson didn't get it done this year. BTW, as much as I like Keatts, i'll be pulling for Hofstra to take the W. CAA first. I don't think they can do it, but i'll still be pulling for them.

For the bashing of Clemson, Mississippi (#20), Lipscomb (#48) should be in over Clemson, Nebraska (#49), Creighton (#52), South Carolina (#81), Akron (#111) and Georgia (#118), Radford (#144) are decent enough teams to play.

NC State played Wisconsin (#16), Auburn (#17), Penn State (#47) are the only 3 teams in the top 150, Vanderbilt at #155 is the only other top 200 team they faced out of conference. Most of who they played are worse than #300 in the NET

Clearly 82's comments here were reactive and misguided as they typically are with KK.

Not at all. After the fact assessment of a schedule doesn't mean it wasn't weak from the beginning. Sorry, but if UNCW had that schedule to start the year, we'd have all complained. Some of those teams Clemson faced ended up being good, but that was a weak schedule on paper.

I do love that the NCAA committee sent a massive message to coaches about these types of schedules. The fact they didn’t even put NCSU in the last 4 out was telling. This wasn’t a snub, it was a warning for their future too. It’ll be interesting to see if KK learns the lesson.

Only semi true. St John's still got a nod with over a 300 NCSOS. But they did have 5 or 6 Q1 wins to make up for it, which NC State only had 3 (2 prior to the ACC Tournament). He made it clear in his interview, given the massive number of opportunities they have to win and do more with them. That was the first time a committee chair person finally said it. But for NC State, Clemson, Alabama, TCU, Texas maybe they will get the message.

I actually thought this was one of the better jobs by the selection folks. They did not go out of their way to punish mids (except maybe Utah state). Most got paired up against power conference teams, so the opportunities are now there for a change. Now they gotta show up and win them.

For the record, in my opinion, if NC State did make it, that would have been enough for me to say all of the mid majors need to split and boycott. That inclusion would have sent the message that you do not have to play anybody and the conference slate is enough to get you in. That would have been a big problem.

Yow's headline this morning was comical. Disappointed their total body of work was not good enough. Even stating their SOS of 179. How does she believe that is good for a major conference? Then listing all of the highly ranked teams they lost to. She is out of touch with how it should work, even if that normally is how it works

My Facebook memories reminded me that on March 17, 2014 I posted the following: “State fans are excited that Mark Gottfried has them dancing for the third straight year... that means he only has about two years left with the Pack.”

State fans I know would go on to comment how he and Yow have the program trending upward and he was there to stay, long term. They’re just as out of touch with reality as their AD/leadership, so at least they’re all on the same page.

Overall, Debbie Yow's tenure in Raleigh has been a success. However, this and the "pay for play DSJ Scandal" will leave a little blemish on her time there. She has left the football and basketball programs in a better position then she found it. The new AD they have coming in from West Point will bring in a much needed breath of fresh air.

Ahhhhh. Will he retain the likes of KK, or will he (like many ADs) want his own man running the show and move the basketball program in a different direction? Interesting what the future may hold in Raleigh as Yow departs.

From what I've heard, Yow wanted another year. The DSJ scandal cost her that. She wasn't gonna go out quietly with this NCAA Tournament "snub" stuff. It's just not her style, if you've payed much attention to her tenure at State or her previous employer Maryland it shouldn't come to you as a surprise... You know it's funny, I met Kay Yow several times growing up and she always seemed to be so nice. I definitely don't get that vibe from Debbie lol.
