Huge ACC Tournament game coming up on Wednesday between our former coaches (the last 2 to have multiple winning seasons at UNCW, amazingly enough).

It may just operate like a mid-major championship game. The loser is expected to be out of the picture, while the winner ends up on the good side of the bubble. NC State sits at 21-10 (9-9 ACC), # 32 in the NET rankings. Clemson is 19-12 (9-9), # 35 NET.

I think you all know who I'll be rooting for in this one....

you and me both good sir!
Crazy to think that from 2003 to present, there's only been one winning season at UNCW by a coach not named Brownell or Keatts: 2007-08 under Benny Moss. And, of course, he did that with guys recruited from the Brownell era.
Im sorry but a ncsos of 353 should not even be considered especially when that team has a mere 1 Q1 win, which in a major conference is god awful. Clemson also has a mere 1 Q1 win but at least they played a slightly harder schedule and do not have any Q3 or worse losses. Neither should be in. Belmont, Lipscomb should be in before either of these guys.

I’m nearly certain we all agree with this.

Agreed, but that's not how the world works.

It seems pretty clear that the loser is out of the picture, so the game is still huge.

Totally understand. I actually think both still make it regardless of result, unless there are some bid stealers like a Pac12 team not named Washington/ASU or an Iowa or Georgetown type team or non-VCU A-10 team.

Disagree. I think the loser is firmly out.

Yep. The bubble shrinks as we get closer to Selection Sunday, it doesn't grow. So if you lose that early in your conference tournament, you're toast.

The spot will likely be taken by another P5 rather than a mid-major, but still. Loser is NIT-bound.

Our recent former coach could get bitten in the ass for scheduling a weak out of conference. Hoping that happens!

Regardless of how he left, I hope that happens just based on his scheduling tactics. I don’t think the NCAA should reward that. I didn’t like playing that type of schedule when he was here either. We can make Claflin jokes all day, and it is what it is now... but I never liked that.

What makes you think the plan was to get rewarded? Keatts used pre season to make sure his game plan was in place and everyone understood what to do and when to do it. He'd start easy and progressively play tougher games. OTH, we just took an arse beating over and over in our preseason, which i'm sure helped a roster of transfers and freshmen acclimate to D1 ball. How'd that work out?

About the same

There's a happy medium between the McGrath and Keatts scheduling methods. And it shouldn't include playing non-DI teams in December.

Wasn’t saying his intention was literally to be rewarded for it. Geez. Relax. I’m just saying the committee should take it into account when giving out bubble spots to either underperforming P6 teams or mid majors.

Perspective. Sure looks like a coach that led UNCW to back to back NCAA appearances after a decade of misery to me. I guess you could put the picture of our other NCAA coach in that caption as well, right?

You have no sense of humor, do you.
I hope both Clemson and NC State get in. The more former Seahawk coaches in the big dance, the better....
