I know fans want to win, but I'm thinking tomorrow is a good game to get the backups some big game experience and the starters some rest. This game won't effect our NCAA tournament seed and our starters are tired. Let the backups play big minutes and bring the starters in if it's still close with 10 minutes left. I doubt it will happen because our players want the tournament championship and to get revenge against Houston, but NCAA tournament wise we are probably playing for nothing tomorrow.
I'm kind of liking this crazy idea. It's obvious that guys are wiped, Jarron especially. I doubt Cronin will go for it tho. You play to win and all that.

Nice couple of postseason wins against decent teams.
The Cats are playing on vapors. A win tomorrow would be a great reward for a stellar season. Either way we should be pleased. Need to build on this season for next. I expect bigger things in 2020
This season has already been stellar. A win tomorrow would be great, but if the NCAA tournament matters more, then we have a better chance winning in the NCAA tournament by letting our starters get some rest and giving the backups some experience.
As long as Cumberland stays - which I think he will - I expect this team to be top 10 in the NCAA next season. Look at how far guys like Brooks, Williams and Scott have come this year. Give them and Cumberland another year to develop and we will have a lot more threats then just Cumberland.

I guess I don't get this idea. UC has touted our depth as an advantage all year long and we've played the same number of games as everyone else. Why are our guys so much more work out than other teams?
And if they are, is one day's rest going to help that much? Even if it does, that only covers our round 1 game... to get to the second weekend we're going to have to play back to back tough games against quality teams

We have good depth at PG and can rotate Williams out without any major impact. But Cumberland, Scott and Brooks are often asked to play a lot of minutes. Brooks got rest tonight because of foul trouble, but Scott played 38 minutes and was clearly gassed late in the game (around the 5 minute mark he waved for Cronin to sub him out and Cronin ignored him).
I'd say three main players need rest. Scott has played 73 minutes in the tournament, Cumberland 69 and Jenifer 67.

Houston looked whooped too, as I said. It's a long season and UC relies on 6 guys largely. I'm most concerned with Cumberland, who is constantly getting pounded around screens and going to the rim. It's more the mileage of playing in a game. It's cumulative and tiring. He's going to play 30+ minutes and will have to suck it up, but I wonder if it's worth it.
The only way JC sits tomorrow is if Houston whups us and the game is over sooner than later. If you listen to the presser I posted Mick wants the team to face the challenge of a FF caliber team going into the NCAA. I thought JC picked his spots scoring against Wichy State and had some great passes to other teammates. He also had extended blows on the bench. Tomorrow's game is against a team that beat us twice this year and humbled our butts on our own floor last week. I don't see Mick or the players not wanting to go 100% to win the game.
Coach Marshall's comments begin at the 24 minute mark. FWIW, we are the first program to beat Marshall three times in the same year. Welcome to the AAC.
Bring it tomorrow. See what happens. Cougars looked gassed playing Memphis and UC owes them. I expect the Cats to fight to win the game tomorrow not rest guys. The loss on senior day is still fresh. Get payback.

My thought on Logan Johnson is that both teams are tired, so bring in a player with crazy energy who is fresh to wear Houston down more. I believe the bottom of our bench is better than Houston's and we should take advantage.
That said, I still envision 35 minutes for Scott and Cumberland. Less for Brooks because he will get 4-5 fouls.
Jennifer will play a lot of minutes because Broome will likely get taken advantage of on defense once again. That's where I would love to see some early minutes for Johnson, as a break for Jennifer instead of always Broome.

eh I changed my mind...I want JC to play and I want to beat UH. Not because I give a rip about the AAC title but I don't want to lose to those shmows 3 times in a single season.
Bearcat W baby!! Missed the game at party, but don't care about all these negatives, we will not lose 3 to Houston. Payback coming, cut down the nets. Lets go Bearcats!!

I expect a play on UC v Memphis 1992 where people said UC cannot beat Memphis 3 times then they said definitely not 4 times.
UH is the better team and I expect a 3rd loss.

Agreed, Cincinnati has been very good this year. But Houston is a top 10 team and should be a two seed. We can beat Houston, but it will require some luck and some big time performers off the bench. Houston will be there clear favorites.
Even listening to Cronin's post-game from Wichita State, he talked about us getting experience against a great team and seeing what it takes to win and where we are at compared to them. He's not conceding defeat to Houston, but he clearly knows that we will not be expected to win.

A very good year will be a great one for us and conference if we end up playing Houston 4 times this season!!!

I swear there was a point yesterday when Jarron got hit by a moving screen yesterday and he responded by shoving his man a few feet back. There was no call. It's so weird.

Losing to UH a 3rd time would be a bummer, but very understandable. I would not be down on the Cats if it happened. (I would be PO'd if it was another blowout.) There is a reason UH is a top 10 team.
I've been impressed with the front court, these past couple games.
Brooks is getting a lot better at finishing around the rim, and although he's not the scorer KW was, he's still pretty good.
Scott isn't Clark, but he makes some crazy athletic plays and keeps his wits about him at the same time. I wish Keith Williams would be more of a factor, but he's already pretty good for a Sophomore. Broome and Jenifer didn't light it up yesterday like the day prior, but they're still very good at what they do. Just can't believe just how much Jenifer has improved on offense.
I will say though, I notice both our PG's(nominally, I know Cumberland takes most of the possessions) despite having good scoring ability, lack in the ability to defend longer, more athletic guards. I hope Johnson gets his shot to respectable form next season. I have the feeling we'd greatly benefit.
