A lot more than a few hundred...but like UCF did when they added close to 7,000 sideline chairbacks...UCF was able to practically DOUBLE the price of those seats along with increased donation levels when they turned those sections into upgraded "clubs" with added amenities and beer sales plus individual chairback seats.

I wouldn't be surprised if ECU focused that next in the coming years (turning plain bleacher seats into upgraded "club" sections with individual chairbacks).

Yes, you would have to drop several thousand. I personally hope it never happens. I sit in a standard bleacher seat and love it. A lot of the fan base, not just students, stand a good majority of the game as it is. The chair backs that are already there look terribly cramped and hard to get in and out of.

So did many UCF Fans...but they understood the need for the AD to INCREASE REVENUE...so most agreed with the decisions to replace thousands and thousands of bleacher seats and build new sideline clubs that had individual chairbacks installed...where revenue now has SOARED, even if some had to relocated "out" of the new club into "worse" corner end zone bleachers.

Fans/boosters (most and many new ones) will pay for AMENITIES...hence why almost every new stadium renovation has focused on new revenue generating amenities (taking out old bleachers) vs increasing total seating capacity.

I feel like a point of confusion here is that we don't already have chairbacks.

There are already thousands of chairbacks on both sidelines that were added in the 2010 expansion, that was a big part of that project. This project adds another 1000 luxury seats (replacing bleachers) as well as an endzone club

The core market of ECU attendees aren't high income. Eastern North Carolina is a market that needs bleachers, let's just put it that way.

Correct, with this expansion, ECU will now have approximately 15,000 premium seat options (chairbacks, northside club level, southside club level, loge boxes and suites). That is 30% of seating capacity in premium options. Doubt few other stadiums in the conference has that much capacity in premium options. (quick peek of UCF website shows they have approximately 8,000 premium seat options, or 18% of seating capacity). Maybe if I get bored later I will do all the other stadiums in the conference.

Oh UCF, you guys should really try and optimize revenue with all the success the team has had lately by increasing the donation levels for your premium seating. If I was to give my current donation to UCF instead of ECU, I would qualify for Stadium Club seating. Strike while the iron is hot guys, and price gouge the hell out of the fanbase. Its the AMERICAN WAY!!!

Believe it or not, UCF has actually already made some changes over the last year or two to premium pricing/donation levels. It was a pretty big increase from before but also likely at the upper limit to what can currently be supported. Unfortunately, UCF's alumni base isn't that old and not everyone can afford high premium seating options just yet. And outside of the research park near campus and some other industries here and there, Orlando is dominated by the service industry. Not exactly an industry that pays high wages where people can spend thousands on football seating.
