RE: G Scott
Im not anti-coaches leaving but I feel like they should stay a year. Before anyone asks, we already have someone. Not as big a name but legit recruiter.

Skimmed on phone and sounds like a damn good hire. But I literally nothing about him other than that link and that he signed with Ball a few months ago ?
Louisville's recruiting at the end under Petrino was pretty terrible and alienated a lot of the local schools in KY. Brown was recruiting coordinator in 2018.

I like to take a wait and see approach when it comes to coaches. I don’t like to pre-judge. But for some reason I am getting bad vibes about this whole coaching carousel situation. I can’t put my finger on it, but that snarky smile in his profile photo doesn’t help.
And my youngest son smothers everything in ketchup. I want to kill him. (Kidding, don’t call authorities)

FWIW, he spent 1 year at Louisville and likely had little-to-no impact on recruits that were signed last year. I would assume he had some impact on the 2019 class, but none of them have played a down.

Since he's spent time at USC I'm gonna ping my family down there. They eat sleep and breath USC football.

RE: G Scott
Sounds strange. Wouldn’t he have signed a 1 year contract at least? I hope we get some kind of buy out. He must have some kind of issues to commit and not even stay a few months. What a weirdo. I was excited when I heard about him coming, but when you consider the issues where he came from, and now this, some questions are certainly raised.

FWIW, I was told there were reasons for why it made sense to go back to Texas.

RE: G Scott
OK, this could get confusing. Both Scott and Brown appear to have committment issues. When talking about them, lets use their name so we all know who we're referring to.

RE: G Scott
1. Location. Immediately before coming here he had coached HS in Texas and it could be more about him going back. It might be relevant to ask why someone who was once considered the heir apparent to Bud Foster who, by all accounts was not forced out at a close to premier P5, chose to immediately go to a HS team in Texas.
2. It is a promotion as I don't believe he had been named co coordinator at ODU.
3. Job security. It is widely speculated that if there is not marked improvement in 2019, Wilder is out. That means that then entire staff would likely be out as well unless an existing assistant was given the HC job and wanted to maintain continuity.
4, This may say more about the current state of ODU football than about the mindset of Galen Scott.

I was actually thinking Galen Scott might become our head coach after next season if he made a good impression.

Yep. He has family in Texas, is making $50k more and has more job security. Pretty easy to see why anyone would do the same.

Based on what? I'm not sure what qualifications he has for a head coaching gig.

Just based on his past performance and reputation. They said he was going to be the heir apparent to Bud Foster at VT, and Bud has been sought after as a head coach, so why not Galen. Not at a P5 level, but for a struggling G5 team, it might have been worth the risk. We'll never know.
