Quote:Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., NY) suggested the current state of America is “garbage” and argued former president Ronald Reagan stirred up conflict between white Americans and minorities during an appearance at the South by Southwest Conference in Austin, Texas on Saturday.
Ocasio-Cortez referred to America’s current state as garbage while being asked about the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and a $15 minimum wage.
“I think the thing that is really hard for people to sometimes see is that when we are on this path of a slow erosion and a slow, slow, slow, just like move away from what we’ve always been, we’ll be a hundred miles, you’ll, you know you won’t even realize that you’ve drifted a hundred miles,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “So, when someone’s talking about our core, it’s like oh this is radical, but this isn’t radical, this is what we’ve always been.”
“It’s just that now we’ve strayed so far away from what has really made us powerful, and just, and good, and equitable, and productive, and so I think all of these things sound radical compared to where we are but where we are is not a good thing,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “And this idea of like 10% better from garbage, is, shouldn’t be what we settle for, it’s like this like it feels like moderate is not a stance it’s just an attitude toward life of like ‘hmmm.'”
The new Democratic leader truly does hate America.
Quote:U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez slammed political moderates at the South by Southwest Conference & Festivals in Austin, Texas, calling their views “misplaced” as she defended her progressive politics in a room full of supporters.
“Moderate is not a stance. It's just an attitude towards life of, like, ‘meh,’” the New York Democrat said Saturday during an interview with Briahna Gray, senior politics editor for the Intercept. “We’ve become so cynical, that we view ‘meh,’ or ‘eh’ — we view cynicism as an intellectually superior attitude, and we view ambition as youthful naivete when ... the greatest things we have ever accomplished as a society have been ambitious acts of visions, and the ‘meh’ is just worshipped now, for what?”
The self-declared Democratic socialist also criticized the treatment of minorities throughout American history, from Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal, which she claimed was racist, to Ronald Reagan's policies, which she said "pitted" white working class people against minorities in order "to screw over all working-class Americans,” particularly African-Americans and Hispanics.
I clicked on the first video link, and to put it in her words, I'd say her response was kind of meh. It reminds me of a high school or college student who didn't do their homework, and is basically trying to BS their way through a response for about 2 or 3 minutes. I just don't get all the excitement and hubbub about her, from either side of the spectrum. But the media and society in general is making too much out of people's responses (and this is true for Trump too I admit).
John Kasich (and Bernie Sanders, among others) was also at South by Southwest this weekend, and I read where he got into trouble for one of his quotes. Kasich was talking about being so far in the wings during the 2016 primary debates that he felt like a Ugandan swimmer at the Olympics. And some people criticized that response for being racist. Really???

It reminded me more of Karl Marx forgetting his homework and trying to BS his way through it.
Here is something I don’t understand. AOC and Bernie keep saying that we somehow lost what made us great. What they are proposing is not what made us great. What they are proposing are things that we did not do, and not doing those things is what made us great.

Lmao
Democrats hate America. Its just a matter of time before you realize they hate you too
Of course she's going to stumble when she has to elaborate on a whim, because she isn't a Congresswoman, she's an actress. It wasn't even her idea to run for Congress, she just responded to a casting call.
All she "knows" are the talking points programmed into her by saikat chakrabarti & zack exley. That's who actually represents NY-14.

The more these “not ready for prime time rookies” get covered by the media, the better.
I find it too funny that the media wants the left to win so badly, yet they give these shallow num-nuts almost daily coverage.........then they open their mouths and torpedo their own side with radical stuff that can’t work.
Nothing like doubling/tripling down on a losing hand!!
Instead of trying to BREAK America, why doesn't she take her Brilliance and her Socialist Nirvana and move to Venezuela, there she can fix a broken nation and show us how socialism implemented "right" works better than capitalism.
AOC should press to move America back to Obama policies, she could trademark the campaign slogan, Make America Broke Again.
