Rice at Charlotte men's hoops
Our 2nd game against Charlotte this year, and our 1st of 2 meaningless games against Charlotte this week (well they are meaningless for Charlotte as they have nothing to play for but pride - Rice does need 1 win or 1 MTSU loss to clinch the 11th seed at next week's conference tournament).

I do wonder what Charlotte and UTEP teams will show up this week (UTEP has two games against MTSU). It's an odd sensation with nothing to play for and then end up playing the same team in back-to-back games to close out the season.

Hopefully we come out strong and then I really wouldn't expect Charlotte to put up much of a fight. I would think making the conference tournament this past Sunday should create a looser Owl team on the court.

Looks like Peterson has found a bit of confidence. Back to back threes.

BTW, Josh Parrish must still be having issues with his ankle (I think that is what he re-injured in the first half against MTSU?). He didn't start tonight and Trey Murphy got his first collegiate start which has to be a nice honor for the North Carolina native. Rice leads 25-15. Our freshmen have 17 points (Murphy and Peterson with 6 each; QMB has 5).

Similar to the MTSU game the other night. Yes playing well and then get a bit too loose and commit turnovers allowing other team back into the game.

Good start to the second half turns really bad really quickly. 10-0 Charlotte run to make it 38-37 Rice. QMB with 3 fouls is huge (the run started when he picked up his third).

Meltdown in T3.

3-1 Sam now with 2 outs.

Combination of bad pitching and an error on DiCaprio.

5-1 now as Greenwood allows a single that drove in two after going ahead in the count 0-2.

Once again there is little continuity in how games are called in the two periods.

Big game from Peterson continues, but Williams has to at some point stop taking so many shots. He's at 38% on the year (28% from 3) yet has taken the second most shots on the team. There are other guys on the team that score. No need to shoot at that volume.

Just brutal calls inside on one end of the court only.

Two big 3s by Ako followed by a layup from Rob extends it back up to 8. Here comes our prevent offense. Let's see if we can hold on.

Been clutch as a finisher in pod play. Really stepped up to be a leader this season.

Mullins hits 4 straight FTs and Rice wins 79-70. Massive game from Peterson (15 pts, 6 reb, 6-6 shooting). Ako two threes down the stretch. Rob some big buckets. Mullins some big FTs.
