2019 SBC CCG - Non Rematch Scenario
I made a similar post as this last offseason. There are 5 possible Football Conference Championship game scenarios where we don't get a rematch from the regular season. Which matchup do you think is the most likely of these 5:

App St. vs Arkansas St.
Coastal Carolina vs South Alabama
Georgia Southern vs Texas St.
Georgia St. vs Louisiana
Troy vs ULM

I must be misreading this thread. Every team on there has played each other during the regular season.

Football.

He was probably confused because TOP gave a scenario with TXST in the CG.
While I expect us to be improved, I don't see us as "that" improved.

Well, the choice here is kind of obvious...

Remember when people thought Ark State and App were destined to be cross-division rivals? After the first 6 seasons since App has been in the Sun Belt, the ASU's will have played 3 times. When giving the league office preferences for their schedule, playing each other must not be high on the list.

Without getting too deep into this, has anyone stopped to figure out how on earth the schedule is going to work in a few years. Sure, we're protecting Troy/South...great, but what happens in a few years when we enter the 5th year of this format, and everyone will be scheduled to miss their 5th different opponent from the other division, and Troy and South still can't miss each other.

For example:

Year 1 missed games

UL/GS
App/ULM
AState/Troy
South/GSU
Coastal/Texas State

Year 2:

App/AState
Coastal/South
GS/TXST
GSU/UL
Troy/ULM

We don't know years 3 and 4, but lets pretend these are the next set

GS/AState
GSU/TXST
App/USA
Troy/UL
Coastal/ULM

Year 4 (Guess)

GS/USA
Troy/TXST
App/UL
GSU/ULM
Coastal/AState

Then year 5 comes along: App is due to miss Texas State, Coastal is due to miss UL, GS is due to miss ULM, and GSU is due to miss AState. But none of that can happen, because Troy can't miss South Alabama. In essence, because the league refused to protect a single cross division rivalry for everyone, we're on an unbalanced schedule where You get situations where App would somehow potentially get to play 6 or 7 years without missing Texas State, but might miss AState twice in a 5 year stretch. It's confusing.

I'm thinking that instead of us being on an 8 year cycle with each team having one cross-divisional opponent they don't skip, we're on a 6-year cycle with 2 opponents we don't skip.

So the third set of skipped matches could be one of two combinations, if I did it right:
GS/South
State/StAte
Coastal/ULM

Troy/UL
App/Texas State

OR

GS/South
State/ULM
Coastal/StAte

Troy/UL
App/Texas State

At some point we play the year 1 and year 2 schedule with the locations flipped.

I'm thinking the league couldn't agree on a single-cross division rival so we settled on having 2 each and a format where we don't skip the same team twice in a row.

I voted for App/Arkansas State as well. Have to say I'm surprised at the lack of Troy-ULM votes though. I thought about picking that matchup for a minute. Never considered the other 3.

We might be in for a down year, losing Marcus Green and all
