RE: Full schedule Release
Probably the best schedule we could hope for from the MAC.

Two early/mid-October games, plus one November game is only on the 2nd. All Saturday home games except Kent State on Black Friday.

We also get the better MAC West teams later in the year. With CCSU, CMU and Ball State all in a row, we have a chance to go on a 3-game winning streak early.

Add on a win at Illinois or a home win against WMU, and we're looking at a good string of wins in the top half of the schedule (opposite of what's happened the past 2 years).

Akron and Kent St. as 2 of the last 3 games bodes well for a late bowl push.

Also, a much earlier bye this year too. Week 5... instead of week 12.

I don't like the fact that we have a bye so early and our 2nd home game is mid-October.

Fans love to come out to FB games when the temps are in the 70s.

Dear steve,
The bye week may be fine if we have injuries after Kentucky and Illinois, plus we may devote extra time to defeating Central.

Full schedule Release
Can we find a path to Ford field in this schedule? Buffalo has lost a lot and should slide back a little. We're overdue to beat WMU and NIU. Akron, Kent, CMU, and BSU are probable wins based on resent seasons. We've been playing UT tough the last few years. Not having Ohio on the schedule is nice. 6-2 Is a reasonable prediction. Hope it's enough to win the west.

This team can win 10 games (maybe). We should at least compete for a division title. Less than 7 wins is a disappointment.

I agree, perfect timing to heal up as necessary and regroup for the conference schedule.

This isn't a good schedule.
Start the season with three road games.
12 games, but only five at home.
Two of the five home games are in November.
Zero home games in September.

...there he is. I was wondering when ljm or Bob would show up to pull us down from our positive outlook.

Agree. That might actually help us. Better than playing at those places a Saturday when it's more of a true home game for them.

Wish there were 6 home games but college football is set up to favor the P5 schools with deeper pockets. The opportunity to beat either/or Kentucky or Illinois while taking their money is enticing. I guarantee Illinois won't be taking us lightly.

The only real concern with this schedule is the late home opener. It would be nice if that game could be flipped with one of the two preceding games.

The beginning road trip, dearth of Sept games, dearth are home games are due to a single event: selling the home game back to Kentucky. It is what it is. The Athletic Department needed the $. And the cost for that money was: one less home game in sunny warm September.

You said it perfectly. 03-idea

I hope EVERYONE here realizes the compromises EMU athletics has to make because of $.

If you have any doubts look at our killer MBB OOC schedule and compare it to say TOL. They played almost all games at home or neutral site. Not one killer on their schedule. Any doubt their record is so good.

I'll post the TOL schedule below:

https://utrockets.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=639

They are 20 - 6 overall but 8 - 5 in MAC play. Doesn't that suggest that their gaudy 12 - 1 OOC record is suspect?

RE: Full schedule Release
If this team is going to win at Ford Field and in a Bowl game, they need to be able to win on the road. A challenging road schedule throughout the season will develop this team into a program that knows how to play on the road. I like the schedule. I think Kentucky is a winnable game. They let CMU score 20 against them last year. I have to believe we're capable of more than that. And our defense is stronger than CMU's. Yes, it's hard to compare year-to-year, but it's what we have to go on. Illinois is also a winnable game. Bookend those games with Coastal Carolina and Central Connecticut, and we have a shot at standing 4-0 going into the MAC season. And 3-1 is quite possible.

From that point, you have 4 home games and 4 road games, with Toledo and NIU likely being the toughest road challenges. I'm an eternal optimist (and admittedly a bit biased), but I see a decent shot at an 8 or 9 win season, with 10 not being out of the question and 6 conference wins feasible.

RE: Full schedule Release
I agree. It sounds bold for EMU, but 8 wins should be the benchmark for this season.

We will be the favorites against CCSU, Coastal, CMU, Ball State, Kent, and Akron. And Buffalo lost a LOT from last year's team (starting QB, WRs, LB, etc.). That's 7 games right there, with other winnable games against Illinois, Toledo, and possibly WMU or NIU.

We should be aiming for at least 8 wins.
