The PAC12 is a 1 bid league
and should be viewed as such unless Washington doesn't win the Pac-12 tournament. Last night their other hopeful AZ St lost on it's home floor to Wash St, Arizona lost it's 4th in a row, and Oregon St was upset at home by Stanford.

We are starting to look like a 2 bid league unless Temple and UCF finish strong.

that's really strange, I'm seeing it 7.30-7.23 (still in favor of AAC)

That was actually a screen grab from last night might not have included some late games

Lunardi has 4 bids for the American this morning; Big East down to three. American rising? At least in this version of bracketology. Time for Aresco to ink that deal for the AAC/Pac 12 Challenge next year.

Ok so....a few quick dumb questions, then I'll go back to where things make sense.

1. Isn't Gonzaga good at basketball
2. Isn't Gonzaga out West somewhere
3. Why doesn't the PAC12 add Gonzaga for basketball?

Same reason Boise will never enter the conference: poor institutional fit. The Pac 12 is composed of state flagship, high reputation major research universities along with one of the most prestigious private research universities in the world (Stanford). Gonzaga and Boise (in football) win a lot but don't fit the institutional profile.

How are we going to get there? That's a long train ride from USF to Nebraska though.

The PAC12 will never add a school with a religious mission.

Also, Gonzaga would not expand the conference footprint or add more eyeballs.

Washington will likely make it. If someone else wins the conference tournament it's probably a 2 bid league. A team like ASU could conceivably sneak in as an at large as well.

It's so funny looking at the NET ratings for the Pac 12....
Washington is at 25. So very solid.....

They then have 9 teams between 68(Arizona) and 106(UCLA).

So even though their conference rating is only 0.58 behind the AAC- they aren't set up anywhere near as well as the AAC- with 4 top 50 teams and then 3 others in the 67-76 range.

Hot take: Washington games in the Pac 12 tourney will be... questionably officiated.

I absolutely agree that the PAC 12 will not add a school with a religious mission and that Gonzaga doesn't expand the conference footprint.

However, Gonzaga would absolutely add more eyeballs. If you add a perennial ranked team to your conference, attendance and TV viewership would go up.

For basketball and Olympic sports, Gonzaga and BYU would be fantastic adds to help increase PAC attendance and TV viewership...but the institutional fit and religious mission obstacle prevent that.

RE: The PAC12 is a 1 bid league
Those very reasons listed why Gonzaga will never be added to the PAC 12 is the reason why the conference is struggling in general, in the revenue generating sports. It's hard to see them ever being a major player in football again, unless USC gets back to where it once was. Even then, I don't know if it will be enough to carry the flag. It just doesn't mean as much out there. I mean it's so bad, they have to have Bill Walton call their games, screaming "Conference of Champions" over and over, just because they collect NCAA sanctioned titles in water polo and many other sports, most schools don't sponsor. It's amazing how ESPN can dictate perception of leagues, solely based off names. The recruiting in football is fairly putrid, sans USC, Oregon and Washington. Given the resources available. Should be a one bid league, but I'd put the family farm on them finding a way to get 2 into the dance.
