We might not have enough people
https://www.wired.com/story/the-world-mi...of-people/

A different look at what "everyone knows," that the human population will continue to skyrocket.

"...That’s the conclusion Canadian journalist John Ibbitson and political scientist Darrell Bricker come to in their newest book, Empty Planet, due out February 5th. After painstakingly breaking down the numbers for themselves, the pair arrived at a drastically different prediction for the future of the human species. “In roughly three decades, the global population will begin to decline,” they write. “Once that decline begins, it will never end....”"

RE: We might not have enough people
Have we learned nothing from the inability of scientist to accurately predict the future of............... anything?

Quote:WIRED: The UN is a well-regarded authority on everything from public health to food security and global economics.

Quote:the level of improvement in female education. And he comes up with a much lower number for global population in 2100, somewhere between 8 billion and 9 billion.

I can buy the idea that more female empowerment will lead to slower population growth.

But not running out of freakin' people.

RE: We might not have enough people
We'll have "people farms" soon enough. That ought to supplement things. Only catch, they will be brown, gender neutral pansies.

Decline..... In countries were people can actually afford to have kids. My guess is that the poor "shiteholes" will continue to have kids.

Then again, I have a hard time giving a logical reason why anyone would bring a child into this garbage today. Liberal indoctrination, pushing socialism, no genders, everything's racist or sexist or homophobic.

But hey, we won't have to worry, AOC says the world will end in 12 years anyway....

That's the point of the article. Urbanization is slowing population growth in the poor countries.

Phillipines has dropped from 3.7% to 2.7% in a decade. US did that decline over 170 years.

Any time I hear people speculate about global population, I wonder why bill gates thinks doing a "really great job" with health care and vaccines means a population DECREASE of 10-15%.

Enough people for what? To continue degrading the environment and exhausting its resources?

Kicking into social security?

Unfortunately that's the way the social welfare systems works. You need younger people to pay for and take care of older folks.

Not enough young and eventually the system breaks down.

Female empowerment does not hold a candle to AI in this respect. The male population will within 25 years have no need for the female population. This is the real danger to the human species.

I think we are starting to see this unfold.

The other side of that is there aren't enough workers period.

I think we are going to see older people working longer because it is financially preferable. That will solve the labor shortage and remove some pressure on Social Security.

Correction: Mormons and conservative Catholics will breed themselves to power.

Power requires both education and numbers. In the Islamic world, the educated people aren't having many kids either.

Google the last census and then tell me how and why the 13.1% of the population that is older than 65 can't be sustained. It's one of those talking point red herrings.
