On a not so important note, how are Ga. Tech fans feeling about that new basketball court and its pea soup or perhaps light olive paint? I’ve never known that to be a Tech color.

It is said that it's not that color in person.

Old Gold is very close to olive and the dynamic between the lights above the court, the television signal, and the color sensitivity of your television seem to make it fluctuate.

You should use a higher quality display. That's Tech Gold, and is part of the new comprehensive rebrand:

I’ve got a high quality display. “Tech gold” is kinda green.

If you want to color coordinate with actual metal painted gold, that's the shade you need. It matches the Wreck. It matches Tech Tower. It's the right color. Adidas just needs white numbers on the navy tops.

RE: Open Thread - 2018 Basketball
Uplifting win for NC State this afternoon. Beverly hit a buzzer beater from 26 feet to beat Clemson by 2. Clemson has to feel like they gave it away on the road, as they were outscored 5-0 in the final 9 seconds and bricked two FT’s before the buzzer beater. Odd stat, Clemson did not make a three in the game, and had only 7 attempts among their 51 total FG attempts.

Louisville got payback on the Panthers to avenge their only ACC loss on the year. Cards won by 15 but Pitt led at the half. I’m impressed with the job Capel is doing early on. The Cards have won 13 of 14 vs Pitt going back to the Big East, but I think the days of the Panthers being an automatic W in ACC play are close to over. I will say for better or worse, Capel has definitely brought the patented Duke flop with him to Pittsburgh.

Well, for those wondering what is happening to VT in football the answer appears to be they have become a basketball school.

Mad props to Buzz Williams and his team. I knew that hire was going to bite us in the ass. No sooner do we get rid of Dixon and then VT had to go and hire Buzz. 03-banghead

Enjoy him while you can Hokies fans.

Cheers,
Neil

Thank You Chris Mack for turning the Louisville program around with class and dignity. Even all of My Kentucky friends are impressed with You. I'm sure We will Rep the ACC with respect from here on out.

Has anyone seen a tournament seating chart yet? Usually it comes out at the end of January.

Duke will get to watch the ACCT via off-site closed-circuit TV...

Yeah, that'll happen. It's so likely that Duke would get screwed by the ACC in basketball. 07-coffee3

VT holds NC State to the second lowest point total of a ranked team since the advent of the shot clock.

VT 47, NCSU 24

offensively,
47 points is unacceptable*
24 points is just shameful

* but at least it's understandable without Justin Robinson.

It took plenty of help from NCSU.

You should see the compilation of missed shots. Missed, wide open shots. Over half were absolute bricks. A third spun out at weird angles. Johnson is not nearly 100%. All that being said, in 50 years of observation it's the worst shooting performance I have ever seen. With about 8 minutes to go in the game they gave up - a first for a Keatts coached team at State.

Pitt player Trey McGowens needs to be watched. He is purposely initiating contact with his legs on three point shots. If it continues he deserves a technical foul for a BS and dangerous tactic.
