Friend got me for Christmas a Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Single Barrel Whiskey.

Born and Bred in Hye, Texas.

It’s smooth........

Pretty darn good.

Blanton's for those special private moments.

Jim Beam for annoying neighbors and free loading old high school buds.

Other than that an aged single malt scotch neat please.

I'll still drink a ton of them. But I've kinda moved on to scotch.

Buffalo Trace has always been a go-to, although a fairly mainstream option. I won't claim to be some sort of insider or bourbon specialist. I see bottles of Bulleit everywhere but haven't tried it yet.

I'm with you on the Blanton's but I love me some Jim Beam, especially their single barrel, but never developed a taste for scotch. Evan Williams white label is for the freeloaders.

Someone brought a bottle of Blue Note in the cigar store for us to sample, it's distilled right here in Memphis, it was damn good. A little pricey but worth it.

A thread about bourbon and the OP talks about Texas whiskey instead, smdh.

I enjoy Four Leaves but my wife is a Bullet girl.

Their Eagle Rare is good stuff and moderately priced at about 35 bucks a bottle.

It's fine. I'll grab the rye to make the sazerac with.

Ha! I had forgotten about Evan Williams! That's almost Old Thunderbird low, or Mad Dog 20/20. I'll have to check out the Blue Note.

It was a present and all American whiskeys are bourbons so what I was told. I was hoping one of you lived closed to the place. Travel to it and raise a toast to America.

I make my Manhatans out of Bulleit rye kind of a whiskey connoisseur. That’s what my buddies get me for Christmas anyways.

Mach, there's Tennessee sippin' Whiskey and Bourbon. The best whiskey I ever had was some made by a relative and it was aged corn liquor and the smoothest stuff I ever put to the lip. But to those who imbibe regularly these are different species and that doesn't even get into Rye Whiskey.

I'm happy you enjoyed it and would always raise a toast to the U.S.! However, you might want to try some of the varieties when you get the chance, but in moderation of course.

My list of favorite bourbons:
  • Blanton’s
  • Four Roses Single Barrel
  • Henry McKenna Single Barrel Bonded - aged 10 years
  • Wild Turkey Rare Breed (on the rocks!)

I have no problem drinking others as well, but these 4 are the ones I like the best.

To be called Bourbon, it must come from Kentucky... Bourbon County. Bourbon County used to be a geographically huge area, but it has since been divided up into 20+ counties.

Indeed. Whenever I hand someone a whisky, and the only thing they can tell me is that "it's smooth", I know they don't have a clue.

Mach, I'd recommend donating it to someone that can properly enjoy it, and going and picking up a $20 bottle of Evan Williams. You won't know the difference.

Website says straight Texas Bourbon Whiskey. I believe all American Distilled Whiskeys are bourbons.
