They did that yesterday successfully. Brooks and Scott had 27 points between the. The issue was they couldn't hit ft's. 5/13 between those 2. If you're going to go to the inside game, you have to be putting guys on the line who can shoot ft's. I suspect teams with depth up front are going to foul Uc more and more. Brooks doesn't have a bad shot, his issue is more consistency in the follow thru. Scott shoots a completely flat ball albeit a soft shot. You can't shoot 30 something % with 13 attempts. That was a killer. I think 1 for certain was also a front end Scott missed. I suspect this team will win a game or 2 they were not supposed to win, but they will also lose a game or 2 they should not. Part of the roster turnover. Onward, Tulsa will be a major test at home.

The real issue was they defended like crap. They missed shots... that happens sometimes even to the best teams. They still scored enough where this shouldn't have been close. They let a bad offensive team score far more efficiently than it had any right to.

What if the solution is this simple: This team is not near as good as we want it or hoped it would be......04-cheers

Still have really good performances against UCLA, Xavier and Ole Miss. Still have mostly taken care of business. Their three true road games they have looked bad in 2 and played mostly well but lost to a good Miss State team.. Clearly an area they have to improve.

Oh look, a negative interpretation of Cronin's statement by Bearcat fans! How surprising . . .

You even recognize that it's absurd, but don't stop to think that maybe that's not at all what Cronin or Jenifer meant.

Nice to see the return of the self-loathing UC fans, tho. Looks like it was a fun day for you guys!

Pardon my misinterpretation...there's no context to the statement made...
the way the post is worded (that JJ feared ruining his national reputation so was changing his game to protect HIS reputation) would make one think it was intended as negative...

what is the positive interpretation of the statement that a player refuses to throw an alley oop because it might negatively affect his assist to TO ratio?

That you actually believed Jenifer or Cronin said it was because he wanted to keep his assist to turnover ratio high.

Our team is offensively challenged. It is really that simple. When we have an off game we, as most teams, are in serious danger of an ugly loss.

There is no one like SK who could take the ball to the hoop and if fouled convert.

When you give up 73 to ECU, something is W-R-O-N-G, wrong!

It's just one game, and this is a young team. I'm surprised they've been as relatively consistent as they have given the void in leadership.

It was a down game on offense because of bad shooting and turnovers.. . But they still scored 1.03 points per possession. The defense was an abomination and it cost them.

Mick was joking about this on the post game show after the previous game.
It was only a joke, but I remember thinking it came across As if the coach was a little accepting of it and I was wishing Justin would be a little bit more risk taking. A little bit more aggressiveness can put the defense on it’s heels.

Pretty obvious the team was/is not ready to handle success. Even though they haven't really beaten anybody worth a damn...per usual in the non-con I might add. But yeah when you beat Tulane by 30 and think the world revolves around you then yeah you're gonna get whipped by East effing Carolina. Hopefully we wake up. Only 3 strikes left.

Still slumbering around this morning with disbelief and regret, sort of what I felt with back in the day when I had a one night stand with a slump buster.

AAC is going to get no more than 3 teams in the tournament- so now our margin for error is thin. We can't afford any more bad losses in conference, and will have to take care of business against the entirety of the conference. Four losses in conference might prove to be fatal to the selection committee.

If UC can't beat ECU they will most certainly have more than 4 losses in the conference this year.

After watching the game I'm thinking this may be an NIT year for UC unless some guys step up.

I expect losses at SMU, at Houston, maybe at Temple, at UCF, maybe at Wichita State, maybe at Tulsa this week, and they have to play at Memphis and UConn. Losing at ECU shows there won't be many, if any more easy conference games for UC. Tulane was the easy one.

Cronin hath decreed it, huh? Please check out ZCat's response if you want an accurate picture of the Jenifer story.

As for me waiting to pounce, your contingent is so consistently negative that there's never a need to wait . It sucks that you can't find any enjoyment in UC hoops. Stop trying to infect the rest of us.

While all those you named are certainly possible as losses, I'm a big believer that things are never as good (UCLA win) or as bad (ECU loss) as they seem in the moment. Beating the Bruins like a rented mule didn't mean this was a Final Four team; losing to every team with inferior talent or defense (Memphis, UCONN, Wichita State) is also unlikely. I can't imagine we'll see a worse defensive performance this season. And 3 or 4 more made free throws and UC stands 2-0 in a first place tie.

I agree that recruiting remains a MAJOR concern. If for any reason Cumberland is gone next year I don't see a "go to" scorer ready to fill his shoes. Logan Johnson looks less confident in his game than he did the first few weeks of the season. Maybe that's just what happens with freshmen. But Cumberland was contributing right away. Freshmen who can shoot, are playing and scoring at all levels of college basketball. It doesn't appear to be a skill that UC is either looking for or able to obtain on any consistent basis.

Eh... If you're judging them by their worst performance of the season then yea...it's going to be really bad going forward. If your judging them by ole miss, ucla or xavier games they'll likely beat everyone on their schedule except maybe at Houston. Reality is they remain the highest ranked AAC team by kenpom (one spot ahead of Houston). They'll lose more games and this game is a huge setback for the tournament and winning the conference, but it still doesn't erase what had been a pretty solid season prior. They are a good team that had an awful afternoon, particularly on defense where they usually are very good. The tendency to overreact to one game sample sizes is always there, but look at the big picture and things will look better.
