Army hangs 70 on Houston ... humiliating.

Congratulations Army, Armed Forces Bowl champs!

Don't worry. UC lost to Ville 70-7 last game of the year, beat Marshall in the same bowl game, then a year later Mark Dantonio got the Michigan State job.

My only hope was the humiliation was vast enough to trigger a firing. lol...It sure felt vast enough. 04-cheers

Last time a coach gave up 70 in a bowl his name was Dabo Swinney.

Don’t be surprised if Major Applewhite goes toe to toe with Nick Saban in the near future.

You and me both. I was hoping our embarrassment vs Marshall would trigger coach Strong's firing, but apparently everyone else in the program got let go today but him.

Army had not scored 70 in a game since 1955.

The 56 point MOV tied the bowl game record.

I tuned into this one near as it got finished when I got to my relatives house to see if Army was gonna finish in the T25

Thought for sure the score was a technical error at first till I checked the box score

But way to go Army! Great season!

Already #22 in the AP Poll and #25 in the Coaches Poll.

Yup...was going off the score tracker and didn't see a ranking

My son went 4 years at West Point and was 9-38 over 4 seasons and never beat Navy

Army football looked hopelessly pathetic just a few years ago. Shows what a good coach can do.

WVU 70 Clemson 33. 2012 Orange Bowl.
Clemson and Dabo have done ok since then.

They can't very well do it the second year.

I'm guessing he got lucky at Louisville. He's a lazy recruiter. He is the 2nd worse in game coach in all of college football after Les Miles. He is horrible at halftime adjustments. And he doesn't correct mistakes. His defenses kept making the same mistakes over and over again. They had similar problems under Manny Diaz when Mack Brown was still coach, but Greg Robinson came in as defensive coordinator and fixed it in 2 games. Charlie Strong undid it.

Well, things appear to be percolating. Kemdal has resigned (no doubt off to Florida St). However---looking totally helpless on national TV and losing by the largest bowl margin ever seems to have raised the temperature on Majors pilot seat enough that it might set off the ejection charge. Sounds like it is no longer a given he will be the UH coach in 2019....so, a big "thank you" to Army if this saves us from Major in 2019.

Look, the AAC is immune to facts about P6, because their fans admit it is just a marketing scheme, and they believe that as in much business marketing, it is valid to exaggerate or even outright deceive when making your marketing pitch. It's like when a burger joint advertises a new burger and it looks huge and fluffy and fresh on TV, nothing like what you actually get in the store.

The reality is, the AAC is nip-and-tuck with the MWC for the #1 G5 conference this year. It is no way shape or form ever been a power conference on the field.

But to AAC fans, that fact doesn't matter - full steam ahead with the Marketing Plan.

Once they kick out Tulane they'll be right there with the Big XII.

Greg Robinson fixing something in two games said no Cuse fan ever.

The American, a self proclaimed power conference, is off to a horrible start:

AutoNation Cure Bowl: Tulane 41, Louisiana 24
Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl: Marshall 38 USF 20
Jared Birmingham Bowl: Wake Forest 37 Memphis 34
Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl: Army 70 Houston 14

I remember barely a year ago Houston fans were screaming for Big 12 membership. Ouch. So much for Houston transcending the ups and downs of G5 schools (as their backers claimed).

He was a great defensive coordinator. Head coach, not so much.

USF and Houston were in free fall at the end of the season. Not really a surprise.
Tulane won. Interestingly, that is the Sun Belts only bowl loss so far. Sun Belt at present has a better ooc vs. FCS record than the AAC with their bowl results.
