Bowl decision
Ran into a reliable source within WMU this weekend. Some interesting points were brought up
MAC was informed WMU would not any accept bowl vs Minny
Quicken Bowl decided on B10 vs ACC over a week ago.
WMU was invited to three bowls this past week. Two were declined as too close to finals week. Boise was accepted
WMU feels they drew strongest opponent of the MAC bids. BYU has two P5 wins and 8 point loss to nationally rated Utah.
For all the naysayers:
Only 7 D-1 teams in 2018 with ten or less seniors. Only two had winning records WMU was one of them.
Ironically, I looked for a projection showing BYU and WMU, never found one. These bowl forecasts are a joke at G5 level. Nobody knows.

Our AD should be fired if true.

Bowl decision
The Quick Lane bowl was literally locked into B1G v ACC. That was decided years ago, only way that spot opened up was if PSU made one of the NY6 games.

Not going to debate whether our AD should be fired.
But, isn’t playing in Idaho one of the worst locations of any bowl? People rag on the Detroit bowl, but at least that’s indoors.
Why not play in Lambeau? That’d be a better spot than Boise.

Hypothetically assuming these to be accurate...

I get that Fleck texting current players likely left a bad taste. But wouldn't have known it stuck that deep where we would avoid playing them. Or there's something else going on.
FF would be rocking if we played Minnesota, and the media storylines would write themselves.

Skeptical we had a smorgasbord of offerings to choose from. However, be that as it may, interesting we'd pick the furthest, coldest (and perhaps most expensive outside of Nassau) location. Even if BYU is a 'national name.'

To be fair, no one could've really known ESPN would swap out the Mountain West tie-in (Boise State) for BYU. I think one listing did show WMU vs. Boise State at one point a couple weeks ago, I forgot who. They would be the winners, IMO.

So, instead of wearing T-shirts and sun hats the Bronco players get to wear snow jackets and dodge sleet.
Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

Of the 8 bowls we've ever played in, only one has been outside in bad weather. All others have either been inside, in good weather, or a combination of the two.

RE: Bowl decision
So if this is accurate, we are to believe that WMU would rather stay at home in a 7-5 year than play Minnesota or play "close to finals week"?

Sounds about right. Flecks people will of course go into denial.

I don't know what she is afraid of. So many would love to see a WMU vs. Minnesota game.

RE: Bowl decision
My reliable source told me Fleck will commit harikari with an oar at the 50 yard line during warmups to spur his Golden Gophers on to bowl victory, letting KC get his chance to be a head coach! Fleck took that Prefontaine quote a little too seriously, I'm afraid.
Gee, I sound like a grouch today. But seriously, this board should understand that anonymous sources spread by mostly anonymous posters is mostly a bad idea, even if it's mostly accurate.

Nah. Everyone is over it except, ironically, old pal Randy.

RE: Bowl decision
What makes you experts think Fleck-Minnesota would want to play us?
What would they have to gain from that even if they won?
And if he-they lost - Uff da.

FWIW
MAC affiliated Bowl payouts (most recent info found)
Dollar General $750,000
Potato Bowl $750,000
Bahamas Bowl $450,000
Boca Raton $400,000
Frisco Bowl $100,000
Camellia Bowl $100,000
If YOU were a University AD where would YOU want to send the team?
Note if KB had landed WMU in QLB their payout is $1,200,000.

Yeah, no doubt he'd leave UCF-Orlando for us.
