From my vantage point, I figure actual attendance was around 12K after accounting for the usual late arrivals.

Yale nearly pulled off a second straight signature win to open the season. In fact, the Bulldogs probably deserved a better fate against Memphis. Instead, the Tigers escaped with a 109-102 double overtime victory before a very nervous crowd of 14,656 at FedEx Forum, spoiling a very strong effort from the Bulldogs.

I feel bad for Yale.
They're in New Haven Connecticut, and there is NO MENTION of their basketball team in the sports section of the city's newspaper.
In Memphis, even CBU and Rhodes Colleges get mentioned in the Commercial Appeal.
Instead..the only story in the New Haven Register...is about Yale and Harvard's football game yesterday.

One of the things that frustrated me so much about the Tub of con..

Many coaches and programs would kill for the media accessibility we have here. That is one of the best and most unique gifts Memphis has.

66.1% is an ugly stat. No excuse for shooting that poorly from the line. Especially our starting point guard. Who shot 56.2%

Yale (and most of the Ivy) wants it that way TBH. Their alumni and main donors don't believe the school should overinvest in sports vs the main mission.

I happened to be at Harvard during Amaker's first NCAA run when they had a top 25 team for a good part of the year. The morning after selection show I was at the same restaurant in Cambridge for breakfast as he and his staff and they were fully anonymous. They actually welcomed me to join their table after I told them congrats.

In 1997 when we had a basketball coach opening, i sent Tommy Amaker a letter telling him i wished he would contact the school lol. He sent back a personal letter telling me thanks for my thoughts on his abilities but he was happy at Duke. Even though i hate Duke i feamed it.Amaker is a class act.

Great guy.. really curious to see how long he stays at Harvard. His official school salary is capped at the salary of the highest paid professors I think (usually around $500k) so his position is heavily funded by private sources. I have to imagine he is taking a significant paycut to stick around (his wife works at Harvard).

There were already rumblings of alumni making noise about salaries and academic standards for the basketball program when I was there and a lot of the most active alumni from my time are even more anti-athletics so it might get worse.

http://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=3453056

I think this is the link. Otherwise just go to espn.com/watch and look under replays

Google “watch espn” and click on the first link. Worked for me. The link from their homepage works sporadic for some reason
