This is an interesting strategy.
Could the Air Force bomb wildfires into submission?
I wonder how that would work since these are close to populated areas. I have no clue about what gets emitted, etc.
But yes - this is just one example of how the military could be used to help out. It's a much better use of their time & resources than standing there waiting for something that's weeks/months away (save a bus here or there, apparently).
Terms like "much better" are subjective.
If the purpose of the military is to protect the nation and its citizens from harm, then securing the borders is a justifiable use of their time.

That's an idea. Dry chemical bombs sure could do a lot to squelch these fires. I get exasperated watching aircraft after aircraft trying to stop these fires and missing the mark most of the time.
Let's try it!

Like CA would allow something like that.

But what if they are not waiting around doing nothing, but rather doing things like constructing facilities that will be needed later (many are probably needed already) and take some lead time to put in place? A lot of them are COE types, which means that is what they would be there to do.
We're not sending infantry to have a shootout at the border, contrary to what a lot of people driven more by agenda than sense are suggesting.

Sounds like some are putting up tents & barbed wire. Is that really the best use of additional people at this point when California so desperately needs help? Of course not.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigra...ot-n934501
"Troops are not allowed to apprehend immigrants like border agents do. For the most part, they are laying barbed wire barriers and erecting tent facilities for themselves and the Border Patrol. The only armed troops are military police, who are there to protect the encampments where troops are staying. While some troops will wear body armor, they will do so only for self-defense and will not directly interact with immigrants."

Considering citizens are dying in these wildfires, it is insulting to say that sitting at the border building tents is a more justifiable use of their time.

California has over 23,000 in their National Guard. You didn't even read the deployment list of what was sent to the border LOL. Who in the hell builds a tent? You unpack it and put it up.

And given that American citizens including children have been raped and killed over the years by illegals I consider their service of protecting our border to be very relevant.
In fact, for these very reasons I find it reprehensible that any level of government would willing, much less proud, to be a sanctuary site for illegals.
