RE: Daydream about UAT's attitude towards UAB football
I think Bill Clark has the right idea. UAB and Alabama can coexist without having to compete or support one another. We dont need them and they definitely don’t need us. At some point down the road, our paths may be forced to cross. But for the immediate future, I think it is best to basically ignore each other. UAB is building a name and a brand of its own doing without any influence from Alabama or even Auburn for that matter.
We are a Top 25 team living in a national spotlight that UAB athletics hasn’t really experienced since our basketball win over Kentucky and Sweet 16 trip. Let’s continue to focus on building the fan base and facilities. The boom in the city of Birmingham is really synergistic with what is going on at UAB and in UAB athletics specifically. The direction we are heading, we may just be in a good spot come the next conference realignment shakeup.

UAB is America’s Team now. And if we were to win Saturday, look out...
...cuz I’ll have my pants off running around on the field.

RE: Daydream about UAT's attitude towards UAB football
2018 marks the 20th anniversary of B'ham's ill fated attempt to replace Legion Field with a state of the art multipurpose major convention facility which could have served UAB football well. Now we await the design and construction of what was chosen to replace that "too large for our state" facility with something cheaper, smaller and only seasonally useful. UAB will be happy with the sweet deal since it won't take up any of the increasingly scarce oncampus land, won't require UAB to build, to provide year round maintenance or security or to pay for any accommodations for fans or TV. Just pay for the lease and enjoy the facility.
As for playing Bama in football or basketball, the longer we go without playing, the more the artificial pressure the game will bring mounts up. Such a game SHOULD have no more significance than any other state university playing one of its fellow state universities as is common in many other regional states - just not in Alabama. Were it not for the Crimson-centric attitude of the System BOT, such games might already have been played with only minor bragging rights involved.

I don't care if we never play bammer. If we play them and lose their fans will rub our noses in it for years to come, and if we win they'll be bitter as hell about it for decades. You think it's bad now?

Until someone brings them up around me or they do something egregious to UAB again, they're dead to me.

RE: Daydream about UAT's attitude towards UAB football
I've never understood why they don't support them more. I'm a die hard Alabama fan and root for UAB every game they play as well.
in my mind, they should be doing everything in their power to ensure the order of teams in Alabama is undisputable:
1. Alabama
2. UAB
3. Troy
4. USA
5. Auburn
Only makes sense to me.
Alabama is playing out of town? Looks like we'll go to the UAB game instead. SUPPORT BOTH!
