Why 9? Because there are only 9 teams with 1 or fewer losses left in contention for the G5 NY6 Bowl.

Based on my reasoning in the previous thread:

https://csnbbs.com/thread-860108-post-15...id15610416

I would rank the top 9 teams this way (in terms of what I think are the likelihood of getting the NY6 bid)

1 - UCF
2 - Houston
3 - Fresno State
4 - Utah State
5 - Georgia Southern
6 - UAB
7 - Buffalo
8 - Cincinnati
9 - USF

Having UAB being mentioned after the program was shut down is amazing.

Who knows for sure, but I think a 1 loss Houston, if they beat an undefeated UCF in Orlando in the AAC championship game, gets the nod over a 1 loss Fresno or Utah State. Only the playoff committee will know for sure...

Well Houston has a p5 victory and now a top20 win. I don't think that either of those two can match that as of today.

UCF goes if they win out as they should. Guessing both Fresno and Utah State move into the top 25 with all the losses. Hard to say what happens between a 1 loss Houston and a 1 loss Fresno. People want to say UCF being unbeaten 2 years in a row matters which is fine, I agree. But then you also have to look at pretty much this same Fresno team beat the same Houston team in the bowl last year. You can’t have it both ways.

It really is. Amazing job by Clark. I wonder how long they can hold onto him. He has to be getting some serious looks at this point.

Well...the biggest difference would be Fresno didnt play against the Briles offense last year. Houston has the number one offense in the nation right now---I think thats been a pretty significant difference between the two time periods--especially since the margin of the Fresno win was by a single score.

That actually helped them because it made a lot of transfers from P5 schools and Juco want to go there for immediate playing time.

Yeah shows the difference between the east coast and west coast. Houston jumps from ranked below Fresno and Utah State to 6 spots higher. I’m certain not a single PAC-12 coach voted for Fresno. Houston not ranked higher than Fresno in any of the computer polls and in some cases Fresno is twice as good in those “unbiased” rankings.

Nope. #1 in total offense.

https://stats.ncaa.org/teams/449821

And you are correct. We dont know how it would play out--Im simply saying that's a significant change and a major reason not to just assume that last years game results would be than same this year.

Unless UCLA goes on a win streak and wins their division, Fresno has no shot of finishing ahead of a 12-1 Houston. Or a 12-1 UCF that wins their conference.

Fresno has no wins of consequence. UH just beat an unbeaten ranked team by 3 TDs. That's your homer speaking.

Houston is in an east coast conference.

The coaches poll votes are hidden but Jon Wilner, a Pac-12 stooge, is an example of what I’m talking about.

His ballot has
UCF 13
Houston 20
Utah State 25

One of only two voters in the country that doesn’t have Fresno in the top 25 and has the largest gap between the AAC and any MWC team. You would never see **** like that from a reporter east of the Rockies.

Sadly, USF was overrated, we didn't belong in the rankings, had scraped by some really bad teams.

Fresno deserves to be ranked ahead of Houston right now, but in the end it won't matter because Houston will have to beat UCF to get the Access Bowl bid, and if they do that they will deserve it anyway.
