Hell, I haven't hit a port-o-john in over 2 years at Nippert. If you are on the east side of the stadium there are the ones next to the concessions (the one by the concession at the top is rarely used during the game). On the west side you can go into TUC or go to the one downstairs near Section 110.
It seems no one knows about or thinks to go into TUC. takes 30 secs to get into, go up to the 4th floor, and you have the whole bathroom to yourself to sh!t in peace. Grab a drink from the vending machine for 1/5 the price of concessions on your way out, or stop by Taco Bell or chik fil a.
Just don't try to take that food into the Stadium. Or don't be stupid like my wife was.

The point of athletics is to promote the university. Revenue from tickets, concessions, etc is a nice bonus, but that's not the primary goal.
I agree with the OP that UC should be promoting this far and wide. IMO we now have the two best athletic facilities in Ohio.

I've said this elsewhere, but UC needs to find a way to maximize their use of this facility outside of UC events. I'd love to watch a concert in newly renovated 5/3 Arena.

We might have to steal some of those from US Bank, but I have to think some of those events might prefer a more intimate gathering in a nicer arena with newer amenities and comfort.

Don't forget HS graduations. Seems like every person I know whose kid recently graduated had their ceremony at Cintas. Not sure what kind of a fee they would charge for that type of an event. Probably not a huge money maker, but it's good exposure to folks who may not otherwise ever step foot into 5/3 arena.

No question. I would think the merchants in Clifton would be leading the chart in having graduations and other events at the refurbished arena. That another 10-12,000 potential customers* to get a bite to eat or grab a drink in your establishment before/after.
* Actually even more for a graduation as you can host a few in one day.

I would think with the renovation, they should be able to handle more of this stuff. From what I understand, the lighting was a limiting factor in them securing additional events.

Nippert is the best outdoor venue in the region. The Shoemaker Center will be the best indoor venue in the region. No need to compare the two, as they fulfill different purposes.

This is probably a little preliminary, and I'm almost reluctant to share this, but the newly renovated arena has attracted pretty strong interest from the National Arena Soccer League. From what I understand, it's more or less a done deal, and a team will begin play next winter. They had to wait until after this season because the soccer team needs a 4 to 5 month window to make some changes to the current design. It's not going to be a huge impact, but it will require some seats to be removed and reconfigured in the lower bowl.

Nippert is a blessing for the university. It is a great venue and it is smack dab in the middle of campus.
As for the “notches” - if I were king I would remove the first sat 4 rows all around and create some seat elevation for the now front rows.
IMO the seats could be replaced by new seats in the north corners.
There is no sports venue better than Nippert - especially at night.
Critics of the “notches” are like those who want to bench Ridder after one tough game - simply loud critics.

This. My God, people, get over it. Nippert is 100% better since the renovation. If you can’t see that, there is no hope for you.

Exactly how is pointing out the ruination of Nippert the same as wanting Ridder benched? What a stupid analogy.

UC now has a deal to host all 13 Cincinnati Public Schools high school graduations beginning in spring 2019, Frigge said. Fifth Third Arena hasn’t hosted a high school graduation since 2004. They’ve been held at various locations since then.

Right.
Let us not have revisionist history about Nippert. Present day Nip is an upgrade.

I walked past the shoe last night. The exterior plaza, where they have moved Oscar back to (remember his statue was originally there?), looks great. The pics and videos from the inside are even better. Can't wait to watch a game there and I'm looking forward to this year's team.

While I don't think the analogy works, I also think "ruination of Nippert" is an insane take and the point he was trying to make about people complaining to complain. The idea that two small notches ruins the experience of going to Nippert is beyond silly.

Great find!
That being said, UC needs to get some of the suburban schools in there too-- too many of these schools are at Xavier and Miami U.
