Agreed. We've got enough time to figure it out.

This is why we need an OCS. Someone get the BOT on line#1.

Or to one of the teams' home fields.

Agreed. We've got enough time to figure it out.

The issue is TV. Both games are scheduled to be televised within an 2 hours of each other. Those times are pretty much set in stone, so no double header is possible.

Yes. Presumably both of the SWAC teams have stadiums that can handle an ESPNU broadcast. Let one of their teams host like we would be.

Is the SWAC championship even in the same ballpark as the Magic City Classic in terms of cultural significance and universal appeal, or could a SWAC on-campus stadium handle the crowd and the festivities?

I think moving the SWAC game location is easier than moving the kick time for ESPNU or whatever our broadcast channel is, but I'm not sure what quality content ESPNU is worried about scheduling around or bumping.

My money would be on moving the CUSA champ game to Fri/Sun sometime if it was to be at LF. Yes that does interfere w/ TV & pro games on TV, I think TV can move some pieces to make it work. I just don't think a double header on the same day is logistically possible as crowd leaving from 1 game won't be gone by time for next games crowd to start tailgate set ups in same spots not to mention cleanup & restocking of concession stands etc.

If this good problem to have comes to pass, I would like to play at Legion Field.

If that can't be worked out, Bobby Dodd Stadium (Georgia Tech) or Georgia State Stadium wouldn't be bad options.

I wonder if we had built our OCS, if a conflicting SWAC game would have been an issue? 03-wink

The city of Birmingham has a contract with the SWAC. One they have been trying to get back for years. I doubt that Birmingham is going to kick them out in the first year back. That is a guaranteed multi year contract. The CUSA championship is not guaranteed multiple years.

To get the SWAC out of Legion Field, it will require Birmingham and the SWAC and their TV network to agree to it. Highly unlikely.

Good information. I think ESPNU can move the SWAC kick back a few hours. Simplest and least disagreeable solution.

Just report on WJox that C-USA is will to move the game earlier. Serious discussions will begin today.

RE: If UAB wins the right to host th CUSA championship
Ryan Brown and Jim Dunaway said they spoke to UAB officials yesterday and CUSA is willing to move the game earlier. If kick was originally at 12:30, maybe it moves to 11?

The other alternative that I think would be attractive is moving the game to Friday night. Double header weekend vs same day double header.

Tailgating would suck if they do a doubleheader. CUSA game folks would have to tear down immediately after the game and SWAC game folks would have to rush setting up.

I would think there’d be room for all folks to tailgate simultaneously.
If pulled off properly, I think it could make for an amazing atmosphere
(If done poorly, it would obviously be a giant cluster)

SWAC is willing to move their game later that day to accommodate CUSA championship.

We're talking Legion Field.

I would think conferences speaking about being "willing" would be speaking out of turn if they hadn't consulted their TV partners first. If the conference says they're willing to me that means they've already talked to TV and gotten the OK.

Hope so, but that wasn’t what was reported.
